Levodopa Medications and Vitamin B6
Introduction
Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in over 100 enzymatic reactions. In the process it is converted from the active form, principally P5P (pyridoxal-5-phosphate), to the inactive form, pyridoxine. An excess of pyridoxine is toxic because it occupies sites that require the active form. For this

Steroid injections or treatment assessment?
I wanted to have some thoughts from you lovely people on here. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with RA and have been having Mxt 15mg weekly since. My RA has greatly improved since the early days but I still have a lot of flares and can't do many of the things I used to enjoy. A year ago my rheumatologist

Hello all Just wondering if there's anyone who has also had problems getting nifedipine(Adalat) ?. It's such a common blood pressure pill that I'm surprised there are manufacture problems for it!. My GP surgery has put me on a substitute Adalat retard until they can get the original one again. Anyone

PSA treatment
Hi, I was diagnosed with seronegative R A 2 years ago. Initially prescribed 15mg Methotrexate and folic acid which was moderately successful. 8 months ago it seems that I probably have a form of Psa as I've had patches of psoriasis and it runs in my family as does R A. Although my rheumatologist didnt

Possible Psa diagnosis now
My original diagnosis was RA 18 months ago but MXT has never been very successful. I was in pain every day. The only thing that helped was NSAIDs but the doc said I shouldn't be taking them along with the MXT. The last appointment with rheumy I showed him what I thought was psoriasis on one leg . Very

Apixaban side effects
Hi all, I have been taking Apixaban for a couple of months now, as well as Zemtard and Simvastatin. I was taking Warfarin since a heart attack 2 years ago, but as I found it difficult to get to the surgery for INR during opening hours my Doctor offered me Apixaban which I am grateful for. My problem

Has any of our male correspondents come across this problem before and if so I would very much appreciate your comments. I have AF for a number of years now and according to the various Professionals I have seen both in the UK and in Portugal where I live part of the year. I take Warfarin, Bisoprolil

Generic Drugs
There was some discussion recently about different batches of drugs causing different side effects so I thought I would talk to my mate at the pharmacy when I collected my December party bag (Have you got yours organised?) . It seems that in MOST cases the manufacturer (generic or specific) makes no

Statin drugs - Yeah Right!!
I'm a couple of months off 70 and being a diabetic was prescribed statin drugs to correct a reasonably high Cholesterol reading. I started getting pain around two years ago, in my arms and shoulders, so one of the doctors put me on Brufen retard 800. I thought that would fix a bit of the problem. It

Adalat retard instead of Nifedipine ?
I have been on Nifedipine three times a day for about two years for Raynaurds and had no side effects as far as I am aware, unless my lack of appitite or anxiety is one. But my doctor has told me I won't be able to continue with Nifedipine as it is no longer available, I have been given Adalat retard
