How often do you take Vitamin B12? I feel like I've been taking it too often. 3X a day!

Hi. I had posted a while back about how much B-12 people are taking. I was interested in it as an aid for nerve pain, but ended up not taking it. My doctor did a blood test and my B-12 level was high enough, so I did not add it to my daily regimen. You might try getting a B-12 blood test, then decide if you're taking too much. 🤗
I have been taking 1000mcg for a number of years because it was low. Seniors should be tested as many are low in B12.
I got my MS diagnosis around 13 years ago. I’ve done 5,000 iu every day since then.
Most B vitamins are water soluble so anything your body doesn’t need is excreted in your urine. The vitamins are not stored in your body.
I take B12, B6, and B1. The only one my docs have ever said to pull back on was the B6 at one point.
Sidenote: I am getting over the shingles and the doc who diagnosed me said to up the B6 to every day for a week or so and it would help move the shingles along.
The recommended amount for adults is 2.4 mcg per day, so I think that is pretty much what we should follow, unless directed by our doctor. It probably doesn’t matter how you take it, but that is the recommendation.
Maintenance doses of B vitamins do not need to be taken more than once a day.
I don't know anything about b Vitamins but I would talk to my neurologist
A blood test to see your B-12 level would be needed to see if you are lacking or OK.
You should be reaching out to your medical team for the answer to your B12 consumption, lbenmaor . While you may ask members in this forum, none of us are your doctor. Be well 🙏
I will add my 2cents worth I agree ask your Dr. I use to take a B 6 every day then went to a B Complex every day. B vitamins are necessary for a healthy body. It really depends on who you talk to as which ones are better. All of mine have had a different answer!
