First nebuliser last night and I need some advice
I'm seventeen, and I've lived with asthma for about 10 years. I'm on Ventolin and Qvar 100. Okay so since Monday to today (Thursday) I've been away on a residential. And last night I had a pretty bad asthma episode; the staff called an ambulance and they treated me with salbutomol and oxygen and discharged

W5R2: Fell through the front door, red-faced and wheezing, "I've done it!"
Yeehaaaa Yay! :) ;) To those of you, who like me, have found W5R2 the cruellest stumbling block ever .... I just completed it, plus a longer cool down walk home as the runs had taken me further away than I estimated! It's been a long haul: first couple of weeks OK, then a few repeated attempts of

I have COPD, no other info. Is this normal?
3 weeks ago I had my diagnosis of COPD from the nurse who runs the COPD clinic at our GP surgery. I was prescribed a Ventolin inhaler (Sambutamol) and today's appointment was a follow up to see how I've got on. All my original discussions with nurse, GP and consultant said my breathlessness was probably

Some kind of yucky virus?
Just wondering whether something like this is going round really. I had something similar at end Jan but didn't feel ill in myself - this time my head is very woolly. Throat is scratchy and sore, sore chest, feel as though there's gunk building up in my chest, want to cough but either cough is just dry

A touch of the old Bronchies
Hi all Well after almost 2 years of wheezing, coughing, 2 hospital admissions, what feels like hundreds of Predisilone, almost all inhalers, I have now been told that yes I do have Asthma but in addition, I also have Bronchietatsis which they think has been caused by the Asthma not being controlled.

General help please!
I was diagnosed with asthma 15 years ago after a bad bout of flu that turned to bronchitis. I am 66 yrs old now. I was a smoker in those days.(not now!!) My GP at the time felt I had always had asthma to varying degrees. My worry is that since that bronchitis I have asthma symptoms every day. Chest tightness

Increased ventolin use.
Hi Sorry more questions, hope none of you mind... Thomas is getting through a lot of ventolin at the moment, approximately 2 inhalers in the last month. Its rather frustrating considering I thought we were finally starting to get somewhere. Its only really in the last month... has anyone else found

Oh good grief, my lungs!
For those of you who know about these things, my pre-run peak-flow measurement was 430, which is normal for me. I went out and ran 43 minutes and covered 3 miles. There were a few stops in there, but I didn't count those in the time or distance. It was the longest time and the furthest that I've

Newly diagnosed - will probably have lots of questions.
Hi, this is my first visit after finding this community. I know I've got a lot to learn and I'm the sort of person who likes to know, have things explained and, if possible, do as much as I can to help myself. After an 8 month "journey" of doctor and hospital visits (heart checked as well as lungs

Very frightening - I hate COPD!!!
We had a lovely day yesterday - lunch with friends who are visiting from abroad and then on to see My Mum - yes we had eaten so my husband wasn't feeling too good when we got to my mums' but a cup of tea and a biscuit and we were back on our way home. Well it should have been that simple! The weather

'Heart' side-effects of medication - can they vary?
Not sure if I really know what I'm asking here, except not medical advice - if I really do feel weird I'll get help etc, but this doesn't seem like an urgent thing, more a 'has anyone else had this?' Basically I've been having an asthma flare-up the last few weeks. Coming out of it now and tapering

Doc has told me to stop Pulmucort after 20yrs as now have mild emphysema. Only have Ventolin to use. Is this ok.
I have been taking Pulmicort and Ventolin for asthma for over 20 yrs. Have recently been diagnosed with Mild Emphysema and doc has taken me off Pulmicort. I now only have Ventolin and no other medication. Is this ok ? Grateful for advice.

emotions of an asthma attack
I have noticed i follow a fairly consistent pattern of strange emotions, i wondered if this was just me, or if others were the same (or had their own unusual ones instead) I always find when my lungs first start to get cross beyond their usual 'couple of puffs of ventolin' type cross-ness i get annoyed
