I have a chest infection and I never knew!
Last week I had a check up with the nurse at the COPD clinic to see how I was getting on with the changeover from Ventolin to Spiriva. Because I was still getting chest discomfort if I used the Ventolin (the pressurised one) she changed it to the handihaler dry powder type in case it was the propellant

After getting a bit low yesterday my daughter offered to take me out for a meal and as her partner was paying what else could I say but yes. So I girded those famous loins and took an extra pill and off I went :D All went well and I arrived on time and outside the restaurant there was my daughter

Hay Fever
The pollen count is so high that even my daily anti histamine is only giving minimum relief. During the night I always have a window open as I need to feel the cool air, but I woke up wheezy about 3am. A toot on my ventolin sorted it quickly, but its going to be a long season, I think. It's weird

Question for Ventolin Accuhaler users
I've used my Ventolin Accuhaler for the first time this morning. I did everything correctly - opened by pushing away on the thumbgrip and exposing the mouthpiece then slid the small lever until I heard a click (the one that puts the medicine in the mouthpiece). Breathed in deeply like I do with

advice sought for 6 year old daughter
I normally post on here for myself, but this time I'd like advice for my daughter . I took her to the gp this evening because for the last 3 weeks she's had a cough. When she wakes in a morning its a chesty phlegmy cough, but as the day progresses it 'whistles' when she coughs ( like Wheezer on toy story

Has anyone had chest discomfort with Ventolin (Salbutamol)
I've had chest discomfort (indigestion type discomfort) when using Ventolin, the metered dose Evohaler type. I saw the nurse today and she said I could be changed onto something else but suggests I try the dry powder Ventolin Accuhaler first to see if I get the same discomfort with that, probably trying

That was awful. My worst run yet. After the first minute of running I was ready to give up and go back to the car. My legs felt heavy, my breathing disorganised and I was miserable. All my very positive thoughts about how I would cope with the rest of the program went down the sink. I thought I wouldn't

Feeling kind of frustrated
For the last week and a half my asthma has been acting up again. After a couple of good weeks it seems somehow harder to deal with when things go back to where there were before. I had a few weeks where I was feeling pretty good and my energy level was actually better than it has been in years.

feeling really frustrated
Feeling very frustrated. At the momment my lungs are acting like those kids that are perfect angels after they've been to time-out and then suddenly forget what is was all about an hour or two later and have to go to the naughty chair all over again. (translation: ventolin inhaler is working, but only

Alternative reliever inhaler to Ventolin (Salbutamol)
What alternative inhalers - reliever type - are there instead of Ventolin? I've found that Ventolin gives me discomfort in the chest (indigestion type pain). My nurse suggested Spiriva and my GP changed my prescription. I was told to use Spiriva once a day and Ventolin as a reliever if necessary

My G.P. is a star!
Trip to G.P. today for rescue meds, Ventolin and advice. Ended up with rescue meds, Ventolin, auntybee's for yet another urine infection, pills for possible Reynauds and blood tests for 'thingy' - actually four 'thingys' (her words not mine!). She told me I was not an 'eco' patient as she handed

Fat boy
When I looked in the mirror a few weeks ago after my bath, all I could see was a fine specimen of manhood. However, my wife called me a fat, bald-headed little b****r. Now in fairness I can’t really argue the little, being only 5’4” in old money. I also can’t dispute that perhaps I am thinning a bit

Change of consultant (and a rant - sorry)
Ok, I assume others on here will have had experiences of changing consultants, I need a consultant while i'm at uni to be my 'person' when i'm in hospital. However, i don't think i can tolerate my current one anymore! Can my GP change me to a different one? can he change me to a named one? If thats not

Weird ""relaxing"" asthma attack?
Recently I've been noticing a pattern that I'm fairly certain has been going on for years and years. Sometimes all of a sudden I get really really tired. Or sometimes tiredness creeps up on me. Either way, I might be running errands and then boom, I barely have the energy to take another step. Or

Is this an embarrassing side effect of Spiriva?
Wasn't sure whether to ask this, and not sure if anyone wants to answer, but has anyone started to suffer from flatulence since starting Spiriva? Today is the 13th day since starting Spiriva, which seems to suit me better than Ventolin (salbutamol), but I do seem to be having a problem with flatulence
