Just wondering whether anyone has ever experienced anything like this. I was a bit upset last night and was trying not to cry. My friend suddenly said that it looked as if I was hardly breathing. When I tried to take deep breaths I couldn't and it was a while before I could speak, but I wasn't breathless

My ongoing infection.
7 weeks now with a chest infection. Just as it seems to improve, it comes back. I saw my specialist today. He is a star! After 2 lots of ABs and 2 lots of steroids, I knew on Saturday night it was back, so I started my 3rd lot of steroids but no ABs as he had already told me that they won't help.

My biggest enemy - me!
Will I never learn? As some of you know on here that I have the nickname of Mrs Nosey as I ask the questions everyone wants to know the answers to but are to afraid to ask. Another part of being so nosey is I have to poke around in drawers and such like :) (wooden drawers you rude lot! ) Well I

does this warm damp (humid) weather affect many people, monday I was reasonably OK, but Tuesday and through the night I was really struggling to breathe,i checked the humidity for my area and it`s 88% so i guess that's not helping me much and neither is my ventolin

A good OOH appt
So...breathing wasn't great last night, still not great this morning, lots of Ventolin. Eventually cracked late morning and rang 111. I did wonder when the 111 dr on the phone told me to take 2 puffs of Ventolin and I'd be feeling better when I got there (umm, I'd already had rather more than that.

This may help someone who has indigestion (possibly as a side effect of inhaler)
I've previously either blogged or asked a question about indigestion as a side effect of Ventolin and Spiriva, both meds have indigestion listed as a side effect on their patient information leaflet. After a rather unhelpful meeting with one of the doctors at my surgery who said the discomfort I

Doctors not taking asthma seriously
My boyfriends recently been diagnosed with asthma, maybe 6 months ago. His asthma is getting worse, and to the point where he sounds as though he's having an asthma attack in his sleep?? i've taken a voice recording to play the doctors and when we rang up to book him in, they've not taken him seriously

Rant-Very Frustrated-When to end Taper?
So I've been trying (#4) to taper the prednisone. At the beginning of the month after I got out of the hospital I felt really good by any measure: peak flow, energy level, cough gone, etc. etc. but by day six things started going backwards and with some minor noise have gone down down down. I'm now

Alternatives to Ventolin
I find that Ventolin doesn't really give me any relief - I've been using it off and on for about thirty years, first for asthma then for COPD. Are there alternatives which might work better? I see my doctor soon and would like to be able to suggest something, or at least not seem stupid.

Inhalers
Fairly recently during a visit to the Thoracic Consultant at my local hospital, I was sent for the obligatory lung x-ray. While I made my way, slowly, to the x-ray department I met an older gentleman who was really struggling for breath. I asked if he was okay and did he need any help and did he have

It's been a lovely day today.
I wish I'd taken everyone's advice and taken it easy. After I'd written my last post I was out of breath for 45 mins and was beginning to panic. What I'd stupidly done is a bit of exercise. I did 10 wall push offs, slowly, nothing like as fast as I usually do them. Then I went upstairs for my laptop

Struggling today...
This time last year my asthma kicked off big time (after having had about 20 years with not even ventolin). By the time I got to September I was on Symbicort SMART - 2 puffs (200/6) morning and night, + up to 8 puffs as required. This seemed to have got everything under control. Over winter (approx.

breathlessness
I have COPD (moderate) Although I was doing a bit of work in the garden today, cut two small lawns and did the lawn edgeing. When I finished I felt very breathless, my ventolin did'nt appear to do anything, also my legs felt very tired and shakey, is this normal? Thanks Vangellis

Has anyone experienced indigestion as a side effect of inhaler?
As above really. I'm still fairly new to all this as only began inhaler therapy in March. Originally put on Ventolin but I was suffering sore/raw throat/chest and indigestion-like discomfort. Nurse suggested Spiriva, GP changed my prescription but said to keep Ventolin for reliever if necessary

Dealing with Multiple Doctors
Last week I had a severe flare that put me in the hospital. In the afterrmath both my pulmonologist and the hospital wanted me to go down to 30mg after leaving the hospital and then do a fast taper (5mg/week). My GP's recommendation was to stay at 40mg, make sure things were stable, and then
