Hi everyone I have asthma and have been having a rough time with it over the last three months. I have been treated by GPs. I have been on steroids since October and want to get off them. The dose has varied from the standard 40mgs a day to 15mg a day ( which I am on now) the dose has gone up and down

Candles and copd?
I went to my nephews 21st last night and had a few glasses of champagne and feeling a bit rough now. I finished the anti and steroids on Friday but I feel so shattered and my chest is tight. There were lots of lovely candles in the room and I started coughing badly it was so embarrassing, people started

HELP!! My Netball Coach is Driving Me Crazy!!!
Hi there, I am a passionate netball fan. I enjoy playing with my sixth form team and I can't help but love a bit of healthy competition!! But only just recently my coaches have started to become reluctant to put me on the team because of my asthma. As soon as I start playing sport, I breathe very deeply

Hi - I'm having some difficulty in breathing. I can get air in but am finding it a bit hard to exhale. Don't know whether to use my bricanyl inhaler or not though. i've been going through a period of anxiety attacks for the past month and after being on ventolin for 20 years (only needing it a few

Strange symptoms over the years - asthma?
Hello forum, this is my first post and I really really need your insight. Before I begin - I'm not here for diagnosis since I was already diagnosed a long time ago, I would just like to see if anyone else felt the same to confirm/deny some of my fears. I most certainly will see a doctor about this as

That cough!
I've forgotten how I should use the forum properly, yet it is related to an entry I made in Sept 2012. The cough has come back, an utter nuisance. Ventolin would reduce it for a short time. My asthma nurse said my airways are clear and there's no infection, if it persists I should return after Christmas

New to this site.
Hi everyone, I have been reading some amazing accounts of peoples experiences on this site, and some valuable information and advice. I have not actually been diagnosed with COPD as yet. However my grandfather died at the age of 77 from emphysema, and then my mother, his daughter at 55 with same condition

SEEBRI (Glycopyrronium)
First of all, Merry Xmas everyone! I wanted to ask if anyone on here uses Seebri, and what do you think of it? Ihave Stage 4 COPD (Emphysema), I have been on it for a few weeks now and at first it was fantastic, I did not need to use my ventolin at all and could actually take a big deep breath! But,

Asthma, Hayfever and COPD
Hi. I am a newly diagnosed COPD sufferer, with lifelong asthma and hayfever. So for years I have been struggling with year long allergies. I have been taking ventolin, reliever inhalers and antihistamines since childhood (aged 54 now). I have water retention, so I take bendroflumeziade and have done

Withdrawl symptoms?
Has anyone ever experienced withdrawl symptoms from their inhaler? I've had Ventolin for many years but rarely use it - maybe only 2-3 times a week and only in the evening when I feel I can't fall asleep. I sometimes feel like I don't get enough air when I get into bed. In October at my asthma check

Any vaccination or preventive measures to prevent lung disease?
I am from Canberra, Australia, moving to Liverpool, UK in early February 2014. I have got asthma (which is under control with Ventolin and Fluxotide puffs) and generally susceptible to upper respiratory track infection for which I have to take antibiotics when affected. In general, I could say I have

Have been a member of BLF for several months but this is the first time I have asked a question, I have bronchiectasis and was wondering if
any other members have been given two different brands of Inhalers 1 Ventolin 100 micrograms/dose Evohaler and 1 Salbutamol 100micrograms/dose Breath Actuated Inhaler. Both for one or two puffs to be inhaled up to four times a day when needed. I realise that the ingredients are the same for both inhalers

Why Dont they have Decaff Coffee on Respiratory Wards?
I know its a strange fact but do people know (or is it just me having dreamt being told it) that ordinary coffee has the same effect on the heart as Ventolin inhaler puffs. It increases heart rate cos its a stimulant. The same thing as dont have an Americano after your neb. Also the shakes are tremendously

Dog dander allergy
Hi, all. I have just found out that I am allergic to my two 8 month old puppies :( it all started about 2 months ago, when I started experiencing a tight chest, and sob, but no wheezing. I was diagnosed with Asthma back in 1987/88 when I developed an allergy to our cat, which we had, had for 14 years
