Taking prednisolone
I have had two lots of this steriod after my asthma attack. What side effects have people notice when taking this? This drug has really mess up my sleep and I haven't had a good nights sleep for a week. The other side effect I have experience is that it has sent my blood sugar very high. I only found

Asthma?
This whole thing started with a coughing fit that was like walking pneumonia, got on antibiotics and it went away a while. Then I started having nightly coughing fits, had a spirometer test and allergy. After spirometry the pulmonologist put me on ProAir and Symbicort. I got off them once I started feeling

Hi, all. If you're not interested in the intro, skip down to the triple-asterisk :P I'm Matt, I'm 17, and I have asthma. I'm on the following for this: - Montelukast 10mg, one tablet per day - Fostair 100/6mcg, 2 puffs three times a day - Atrovent 20mcg, 2 puffs two-to-three times a day + before ice

I think I shold change my GP?
I had bronchitis in August and aggravated asthma and after the first course of antibiotics was sent for xray and blood tests and given a second course. Was told at the hospital it would be ten days for results. Inbetween time my condition worserned resulting in a trip to A&E. The staff there were excellent

Antibiotics for copd
Hi all fellow sufferers. I have just been diagnosed after having a terrible winter last winter after having chest infections which seem to last all winter. Even though I had a history of Bronchitus from a child my Health Centre let me down badly as I was just sent away being told it was a bad winter

Hi from the hospital!
Back in, lucky escape from ICU this time :/ I was on the wrong dose of my combination inhaler anyway, so I'd been feeling off for a few weeks. Suddenly I woke up at about 2:00am on Monday morning with severe shortness of breath which soon, despite my best efforts with my relievers, turned into a complete

Confused about action plan
I've recently been given an asthma action plan, which when the gp gave it to me, made sense, but now I'm unsure. So it says: if use reliever more than 4 times a week, symptoms return or peak flow goes below 450 (best 570), to increase seretide to 4 puffs twice a day and ventolin up to 2 puffs every 4

Generic Montelukast
Does anyone find cheaper generic versions of Montelukast affect their asthma control? My pharmacy supply different types of this drug on a regular basis. I now have what looks like a really cheap version of it (even if it should meet product licence) For a while now my asthma control has been below

What are you all on?
I'm just interested, really. I'm 17. Fostair 100/6mcg, 3 puffs morning, 3 night (not really working so going back to doc next week). Montelukast 10mg at night. Atrovent 20mcg, 2 puffs before ice hockey (or indeed any exercise), or 2 puffs 3 times a day if I'm yellow-zoning. Salamol 100mcg, 2 puffs

How many inhalers do you get per prescription
I ask out of sheer interest. I used to get three X ventolin on each prescription when I was younger and then it was reduced to 1 with no reasoning given to me At £8.40 per prescription once per month for a blue and a brown inhaler the cost of being asthmatic is quite a lot...I've had £30+ prescriptions

Long winded. :(
Hya guys, Hit a bit of a lull, my dad has been using the bicap machine for a while now but recently been asking if he can leave it off (even though he knows how important it is for him) he needs it on a minimum of 6 hours and it's a push to try and keep him on it for that long. He's saying that he can't

Weird triggers, or not-so-weird?
I have asthma (uhh, like that isn't obvious) although not sure what severity; I take Montelukast 10mg every day, Fostair 3 puffs twice a day (yeah, I need to go back to the nurse), Ventolin as needed or regularly depending how I am, and Atrovent 20mcg before ice hockey or with my Fostair when I'm yellow-zoning

Ventolin
Hi. I am trying Ventolin at the suggestion of the asthma nurse alongside my Anoro to try to improve the tightness in the right side of my chest. It is a 'trial and error' scenario before I go to my GP. Is it normal for my tongue and lips to go numb like a dental injection would? Also, I only get the

Negative spirometry
I've just had a spirometry for reversibility and the before results were almost perfectly normal while the after results showed half the level of improvement needed for diagnosis. I've had an inhaler for over 20yrs and take it most days, at least once but recently more. I had a peak flow trial while

I had a chat with my pharmacist today
Following a previous post on here I asked him about the current thinking about the use of the blue ventolin inhaler reliever asthma, and whether it should only be used 2/3 times a week and not daily. He emphatically said yes it was, and if I was using mine 3/4 times a day my asthma was uncontrolled

I'm new to this a forum. I was changed from Flixotide and Ventolin as my asthma was not controlled. I'm now on a combination inhaler - Flutiform, but I have bad cramp in my feet every night, plus swollen ankles. The Flutiform was helping until I got a cold and had to take Ventolin too. Anyone got
