Update for followers
I started Obinutuzumab and
venetoclax
in march 2016 with 75 percent CLL in my bone marrow aged 47. I had some early challenges but by August I had only 0.08 percent! Mrd positive. Next bone marrow biopsy might show Mrd negative?

Starting Ibrutinib plus Venetoclax Trial at MDA
I will be starting the Ibrutinib plus
Venetoclax
trial at MDA. My platelets have dropped from around 150 to 28 in just a couple of months. My WBC is about 40 with ALC about 32.

After Ibrutinib failure, lymphocytes up again. Maybe another trial with Idealisib
I know there are other new treatments,
Venetoclax
and Acalabrutinib for example, but not available on NHS. Any thoughts, dear CLL chums? Merry Xmas and bon courage to all.

IBRUTINIB - for 21 months, now stopped
Might it be Idelisibib and retuximab or maybe
venetoclax
if I can wait that long until it is approved. Happy Christmas everyone. Cheers. David

New Treatments
The newest FDA approved medication (approved in April) is
venetoclax
which targets a protein called BCL-2 (This drug is not used up-front at this time as it is only FDA approved for people with a 17 p deletion). So there remains several newer options for the treatment of CLL.

Venetoclax or bone marrow transplant?
My son has CLL with 11Q deletion. he could have a haplo transplant with his brother as a half full match donor but given his pneumonia has not subsided he is now looking more towards
Venetoclax
. The transplant has been postponed non stop because of fever from pneumonia.

Watch & wait....its a love - hate relationship
I'm guessing one of those drugs will last me 4-5, maybe 6 years and then on to the next....maybe it will
venetoclax
or maybe there will be something better by then...who knows.

Starting Ibrutinib
Due to my non-mutated status the doctors at MDA gave me the choice of ibrutinib, or a trial of ibrutinib w/
venetoclax
. I opted for the ibrutinib alone and will start next week.

Cycle 5, Day 1 OSU Obin/Ibrutinib/Venetoclax Trial
Hi, Just got back from my Day 1, Cycle 5 trip to OSU. 4 cycles down, 10 to go. Day 1 of the first 8 cycles involves the obinutuzumab infusion on top of the daily 7 pill regimen of ibrutinib and ventoclax. The clinic was a mob scene, so everything took a little while longer than usual, but I was out

OSU Trial Cycle 3, Week 5
Hi everyone, I'm happy to report I got through the
venetoclax
ramp up to 400 mg without incident. I am now officially on the full regimen of meds. With the exception of the 5 remaining IV treatments, all I need to do is swallow 10 pills a day and drink a lot of water to flush the toxins out.

Regarding trial for naive patients with
Venetoclax
she was keen to get him on it if he qualifies. I think by what I've read it's due to start in a few months here in Melbourne. Thanks for letting me vent this forum is absolutely amazing and the information found here is invaluable.

OSU Cycle 3, Week 4 Update
We will raise
venetoclax
to 400 from 200 mg. Two week over week visits left before I revert to a monthly schedule! That’s it for now. Thanks for your support and let me know if you have any questions.
