Vegetative state

Is he officially in the vegetative state? If so, is there even a possibility that he might get better?

She is not far off a vegetative state, where she spends all day sat in her chair. My dad can't leave the house, ever, for more than an hour, and on one occasion where he did he returned to find her fallen out of her chair with a bloody head.

What if he wanted to live even if it meant him being in a vegetative state and he couldn’t express that to us. It haunts me daily it has only been two week but I still can move past the guilt. Has anyone else experienced this?

His heart stopped for approx 8 minutes and it has now been said that he wont ever be conscious again and continue in a vegetative state for the rest of his days. I was wondering if anyone has been or know of someone who has had a similar issues and diagnosis and managed to pull through?

Why; Arrogant Horrible Text Book Neurologist could not understand why my husband was not in vegetative state, blatantly stated: the past 19months my husband been home waste of time with rehabilitation and any hopes we have will not be accomplished because he has hole in his brain.

We are still keeping hope despite doctors pessimism ( they keep mentioning persistent vegetative state ) and are listening to people on here who say that it is early days still and that it can take a long time and that she needs a lot of time.

I really understand and I pray each and everyone of the coma and vegetative state patients regain conscious and their family regain the happiness back...

My sister is being released from hospital but is in vegetative state (so they say). Is ltach the way to go, will they wean her off vent? How would a skilled nursing facility do? Any experiences with either? In Bklyn NY

They've said she's in a persistent vegetative state / minimally conscious. We've tried looking into getting private neurologists to review her or get a SMART assessment but not had any luck in finding anyone that can come to the hospital.

We have reached the point (30+ days) where she’s classified as persistent vegetative state. My siblings and I are at a point where we have to make a decision to either move her to a Skilled Nursing Facility with a Ventilator Unit or proceed with end-of-life process.

It has been 19 days, and it seems as if he’s still in a vegetative state. The doctors haven’t officially diagnosed him in the state, but its the closest to how he is behaving. He opens his eyes now and then, and will move around slightly.

I was not there, but the neurologist told my sibling and family member that on the first CT scan when my mom was brought in, she had some brain damage, but on the second CT (done within 6 hours of warming her up, she had severe brain damage), and would be in a vegetative state.
