One year and 3 day anniversary
It has been over a year since my last AF episode. I still get a few ectopics here or there, but overall the heart is working well. My first episode was when I was 48 years old and spent 3 days in hospital until heart sorted itself out. 9 months later another episode that lasted about 6 hours(took

Alendronic Acid
My liver guy has prescribed Alendronic Acid following my DEXA scan. I'm pissed off as I really thought I had calcium covered. I'm a fussy vegetarian that practically lives off cheese on toast and milkshakes ! Most of the stuff I've read on the web refers to osteoporosis in menopausal women, so I'm looking

Replace calcium with vitamin d
Hello! Ever since my thyrodectomy, because some of my parathyroids were removed/damaged, I’ve had low PTH which means I need to permanently supplement my calcium. I’ve read about people that take large doses of vitamin D every few months instead of taking calcium daily. My question is: is there someone

I am 6 years into stage 4 prostate cancer. Have had SOC treatment in UK. Best PSA was 0.08 about 2 years ago. Since then have had bicalutimide, enzalutimide some localised radiotherapy for back pain. Also been on cabazitaxel, which eventually failed. I am now into my 2nd. treatment of radium 223. So

Low platelet count
I'd like to know if anyone has experienced low platelet count since taking calcium channel blockers (nifedipine , vasocardol etc), or knows of any recent research on that subject.

Hello everyone, I recently posted about my husbands severe anaemia and had some really helpful feedback on what to do about it. Shortly after that post I noticed crackling in my husbands lungs and convinced him to get to A&E as he was breathless at rest. They’ve done an ultrasound on his heart and

Supplementing Vitamin D has no effect on fracture risk
I know a number of you supplement Vitamin D in the hope of reducing fracture risk due to ADT-induced osteoporosis. It doesn't work. An update of the VITAL randomized clinical trial reported no difference in fractures among people supplementing Vitamin D vs. people not supplementing it. There were no

Have you stopped things that might hurt your bone health?
I have recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis and there is no way that I will agree to taking Prolia or similar drugs. You could not pay me a million dollars to take these dangerous drugs! I would like to go the natural way to just try to maintain my current situation. So I have increased calcium

pseudo-hypoparathyroidism
Does anyone have this condition? I've had it since 1982. I had a very low Calcium level. Been taking 1mcg(1microgram) of One-Apha (alphacalcidol) ever since on prescription, to maintain my Calcium level. However, now after 40 years, I can't get any from any of my local pharmacies. It's made by Leo

More calcium chat
A few weeks ago, a poster questioned the necessity of calcium + d3 while on ADT. Several responders seemed to suggest that supplementation may increase PCa risk. I am currently in my 16th month of leuprolide treatment. At the beginning of my treatment a bone density scan found that I was "mildly

Decrease in Levo?
Hi, I’d gratefully like to receive your advice on whether or not I should ask for a decrease in levo from 100 mcg to 75 mcg. My problem is, I’m slightly over medicated but not enough to advise a reduction. However, the higher my dosage the more weight I pile on, especially on my midriff and stomach.
