Low platelet count

I'd like to know if anyone has experienced low platelet count since taking calcium channel blockers (nifedipine , vasocardol etc), or knows of any recent research on that subject.

Hello,

I have been taking calcium channel blockers for 10 years.

I am also on an antiplatelet clopidogrel. This is to help prevent blood clots forming in my blood, which can happen as I have frequent vasospasms.

I have my blood checked on a regular basis and I have not had any problems with my platelet levels.

Have your blood tests shown you have a problem?

I note from your bio that you have a presumed diagnosis of microvascular and vasospastic angina.

I suggest you ask for the relevant tests to determine the cause of your ongoing chest pain.

It's important as the treatment options are different if you have microvascular or vasospastic angina.

Also perhaps discuss with your Cardiologist your concerns.

Hi.I was only taking Losartan 100mg, bisoprolol 7.5mg and an occasional lansoprazole 15mg. I had a blood test and it showed a low platelet count - no explanation as to why from drs, and only found out by looking at my test result online. Presume its nothing to worry about!

Best wishes

Denise

Hi Denise, thanks for your reply, notice on webmd that low platelet count is a rare side effect of losartan (see webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6616... if your platelet count is below 150,000 I suggest you discuss this with your doctor.Regards,

Mike

Thank you for your reply, I'm one of those people that if something is going to happen it will happen to me - including rare side effects lol. I will look to see what the count was and if below 150,000 I'll get on to my doctor.Thank you for the info much appreciated.

Regards

Denise
