Switch of corticosteroids from prednisone to dexamethasone
Diagnosed December 2017, see my profile. Since radiotherapy December 2020, it has taken around fourteen months for my PSA to go from 0.07 to 1.2, with slow and steady progression of about 25% every four weeks. Obviously exponentially, I'd like to make sure it doesn't go from 7 to 1200 the next fourteen

Paclitaxel Acute Pain Syndrome
Hi everyone. I began Taxol Friday. I was not at all apprehensive since I had taken the drug 11 years ago. I thought I knew what to expect. I left the clinic on a steroid high. No pain. Very little fatigue. I even had dinner guests. But the clock struck 10 p.m. and pain began building. By 3 a.m. it was

Proposed Increase in Dexamethasone Dosage for a Brain Tumour
I'm currently on four 2 mg tablets per day, they are planning to increase this to aid my walking and mobility . What are the likely impacts/short or long term & what is the maximum dose? Should I go for the increased dose? Any comments/advise would be very welcome

Post Surgery
Posted for the first time over a month ago and recently had trab surgery on my left eye Tues 26th. Surgery was not the most pleasant of experiences but necessary and the pressure was down to 8 the next day from a high of 38 so good news so far. The consultant was happy with how my eye looked and I could

Question regarding dexamethasone eye drops
Hi everyone, Hope you are all well, or as much as you can be. I wonder if someone can help me, I’ve just had cataract surgery last Thursday, all is well but I’m just wondering if dexamethasone eye drops 6 x daily for 2 weeks and then 4 x daily for another 4 weeks will affect my prednisolone intake,

Next Move
I've been on Lupron, Zytiga, Prednisone for 3 years now and it appears that it has run it's course. I am grateful that it has worked for this long, but it appears I will be needing to make a move to the next therapy. My PSA has gone from 14 to 71 over the last six months and ALP has jumped to 190 after

Steroid use in Glioblastoma Battle
Good Morning Everyone. I was just wondering what kind of steroid doses people are on for countering the swelling on the brain around the tumour. My dad (a 78 year old diagnosed in October) had to stop radiotherapy 5 sessions into a course of 15 in January after an initially successful debulking. We cut

New and Saying Hello after COVID
Hello everyone. I'm pretty new so I thought I would say a quick hello. I am here because I got COVID in late October and had a pretty rough time with it. I am still suffering with labored breathing. The challenge is more pulling air into my lungs than breathlessness. During the acute infection,

Follow up to: Help I’m not sure what to do next.
Hi everyone. I have started a new post as wasn’t sure update would show if I responded to original thread. I saw Rod Hughes yesterday. Lovely man, bit condescending but at least he listened. Agreed it’s possible I have GCA as well as PMR but wasn’t interested in pursuing further diagnostics for this

Update on dad: no chemo yet!
I recently wrote on this forum for the first time with my dad’s history. For the many others who don’t know my dad’s progression: “My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer 10 years ago in 2012, with pelvic metastasis in 2018. He’s been on all types of medications, and he shares very little about it

Eczema, Rosacea or both?
Hello all, I'm new here. After having several appointments with the GP with no result I wanted to seek some advice online before splashing the cash on a private dermatologist. I'll start by saying I've had eczema all my life (25, male) and as I've gotten older it's been manageable with a topical steroid

Docetaxel and headaches?
I had my first cycle of Docetaxel Chemotherapy last Wednesday. I have been waking in the early morning with a blinding headache and struggled to sleep at all after that. This has happened for 5 nights in a row now. I rang up my care team yesterday who said they would contact my specialist but I've not

My father has metastasized prostate cancer. What are the odds with chemo?
Hello all, I recently found this forum and this is my first post. My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer 10 years ago in 2012, with pelvic metastasis in 2018. He’s been on all types of medications, and he shares very little about it with me unfortunately - it’s likely because I’ll be worried. But

Lumbar nerve impingement
I responded to another post about index numbers on scans. This generated a question about symptoms from the nerve impingement that showed up on my recent MRI. I decided to answer in a new post. My MRI showed a new lesion pressing on the root of the nerve where it leaves my third lumbar vertebra. Here

3rd Rituximab Infusion One to Go!
I believe that the Rituximab infusions seem to be working. WBC back in normal range. RBC up but still a little low. My Haptoglobin has stayed the same at 14 which it has been for every test on record since September. I am wondering if anyone knows why that is and if I should be concerned. Thanks CBCWD
