This is due1`I am told` because I survived 6 weeks in ICU in 2011 and had to be on a ventilator the whole time which meant a

Nine years ago today, I fell off my bike, in France. I spent several weeks in a coma (some of which was because of sedation, but not all). I was on a ventilator for a while, and I still have the tracheotomy scar on my windpipe. I was flown home in a Lear Jet (thank you, Churchill Travel Insurance!).

3rd time my mum is waking up from sedation. 3rd time lucky? She is still not 'co-operating' after 4 days although she seems there to me....
Her oxygen levels are now at 40% and they have changed the ventilator (via her
tracheostomy
) so she can breath more on her own and her sedation is down to 0.4%.

My mum is having a tracheostomy today after ecmo . Anyone know why they couldn't do this in the beginning?
I know it's all to get her 'better' but the
tracheostomy
sounds like the kinder way and I'm wondering why it wasn't used in the beginning . The doctor says that it is the way and order they do things ....?

My son and his tbi
After the
tracheostomy
was removed he was moved to a special neuro at Goole hospital. During the first weeks he started to move his right arm and leg and even managing to lift a glass of water with some help and sip it. His left side has remained motionless with only slight movement.

A little life story ( It may sound unbelievable but it is true )
Over the last few months people on this forum have been an inspiration, I do not post a lot myself and what I do post is I hope for the benefit of all or informative. I have read posts, some replied to some not, but I do read nearly all of them and please believe me, I do feel your pain and despair

Three months on
Its now just over three months since my husband was in ICU for just over three weeks, a week of this on an incubator, and a further two weeks with a tracheotomy. A number of things went wrong or were not done very well, and although he at one stage he appeared to be recovering he died on a high dependency
