hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has had any experience of coming off Steroids . My partner has SCLC and mets in brain, had chemo by infusion then went into have immunotherapy, which wasn’t working so then given Topotecan pills which caused his lungs to cloud up with infection, so they topped up his Steroids and ever since has been very bloated and unable to walk very far and altogether very unwell

He has decided to come off the steroids slowly reducing his dose weekly, but is now even worse as confused, angry, depressed, keeps falling over as his head is so big and ankles so swollen and even less mobility , any Ideas how to get through this awful time

I'm so sorry you and your partner are going through this. Has anything changed since your post? The first thing I'd suggest is to be sure your partner's doctor knows all the symptoms he is having so he can monitor him and provide care as needed. The side effects should resolve as the steroid is tapered. If they don't, the symptoms could be coming from another source. Here is some information on steroids and cancer that may be helpful. chemocare.com/chemotherapy/...

Please let us know how he's doing.
