How do you tell the difference between the pain from RA joint damage and the pain from RA being active/having a flare?
I am due to start on
Tocilizumab
in the next two weeks after a tough few months of just being on Sulfa and Hydroxy (MTX caused me lots of issues so I had to stop it).

Tocilizumab injection vs infusion
I was on
tocilizumab
infusions until last month but was switched to injections because of COVID. Have any of you found the injections don’t work as well as infusions? I’ve found I am getting flare ups now and I’ve done the injection for two weeks but the infusions I didn’t have a flare up at all.

Repurposed drug shows promise for treating COVID-19 inflammation.
The team initially gave the drug,
tocilizumab
, to the most severely ill COVID-19 patients — specifically, those experiencing a dangerous immune response known as a “cytokine storm” — and it appeared to improve survival rates, especially among patients requiring mechanical ventilation.

tocilizumab
I’ve just spoken to Rheumatologist and they are suggesting that I try
tocilizumab
injection. How affective have people found this drug and what kind of side effects have you experienced? How often do you take it? Always worried before starting something new but my arthritis has flared up again.

Sweet's Syndrome UK Day
Intravenous
TOCILIZUMAB
, a biologic, was given once. This is a drug that works by blocking INTERLEUKIN 6 (IL-6), a protein and CYTOKINE that is part of the body’s inflammatory and immune processes. Too much IL-6 can cause inflammation and tissue damage (see notes).

Advice?
She proposed 3 medications to use for the future:
Tocilizumab
, Methotrexate or Hydrochloraquoin (sp?). I am interested in the latter, however I need an eye exam and the eye doctors are not yet receiving patients due to Covid. Any comments on these 3 meds???

Covid-19: rough morning
I worked for a biotech company that is making a monoclonal antibody cocktail vaccine/cure for this virus, as well as an IL6 inhibitor similar to
tocilizumab
. I was heavily involved in the IL6 inhibitor, not the cocktail.

Thoughts on Covid
Perhaps a more interesting drug is
Tocilizumab
which targets the cytokine inflammatory response.

Blurred vision - alternatives to Tocilizumab
She has recently complained about blurred vision which is a known side effect of
Tocilizumab
. She is now wondering whether to go back onto the steroids as blurred 50% vision is making her feel worse about herself. She is also wondering if there are any alternatives to

I’m taking
Tocilizumab
on a weekly basis, and have been reading about the research on this drug. Roche, the manufacturer, has been testing it on severe Covid 19 patients, with excellent results. Therefore I am currently feeling that , maybe, I am less likely to contract the disease.

Tocilizumab may be Helpful for the Cytokine Storm if our Immune Systems over react to COVID19
The case report, described in an upcoming paper in Annals of Oncology, joins dozens of accounts from Italy and China, all indicating that
tocilizumab
might be an effective antidote to the coronavirus in some people.

Not old yet still vulnerable
I take the
tocilizumab
biologic to treat my arthritis so I’m now classed as vulnerable. I live on my own and have been WFH last week. I went shopping early the Other day at the vulnerable time however I got some very bad looks as people think I’m fine as I don’t look vunerable.
