Good sats - so why so breathless?
THAT is indeed the question. Why, with my peripheral O2 levels at 94/5 %even 96% am I still fighting to breath? It goes like this. I wake short of breath. I rise and take my Oximeter (I have several; they all show the same) . My level is, say 92%. I do controlled breathing using a computer monitor

Biologics
Hi - following on from my previous posts, has anyone been rejected for biologics due to their inhaled steroid dose being high? I have Seretide 250mcg x2 puffs twice daily and pulmicort nebs 2mg twice daily. Theyāre saying the high doses of inhaled steroids are the cause of my infections, but Iām colonised

Keeping the weight down despite asthma and prednisolone
Just wanted to share a most recent DIY project at my new flat after moving. I apologize for the long post. 15 year AF story
First episode of AF about 15 years ago. Heart rate ~155. Would sometimes reset itself. Initially fixed with Flecanide, then Amiodorone. Flecanide then inadequate and I suffered a very unpleasant fainting/blackout reaction to amiodorone when an IV drip was started in A&E. So further episodes sorted by

Broncholidator Reversibility Test
Hi, I posted a few days ago about my team wanting to do a broncholidator reversibility test and FeNO before they put me forward for biologics. I wasn't going to do the test, then decided to do it, incase it did show reversibility to save time waiting for a referral to Wynthenshawe as my current hospital

Covid recovery
Hi, I tested positive on 15th December and was positive for 14 days. It attacked my lungs this time and was bad. From day 1 I was prescribed steroids and a 2 week course of Docyciclyne to take alongside my nebuliser. Iām now on my third course of steroids and my peak flow is still only about 310. Heart

mucus plugs (plastic bronchitis)
Hi, sorry for gross question but... A long story short: I was in hospital for a severe asthma flare up in September for 12 days (when I was first diagnosed). I was on oxygen and not improving. They gave me a lot of saline and salbutamol nebs. What eventually worked for me was that I coughed up a lot

bronchodilator reversibility test
Hi - Iāve posted before about having weird asthma! My consultant wants me now to do a bronchodilator reversibility test āto proveā my diagnosis before putting me forward for tezepelumab. My spirometry is always normal - I think the lowest itās been is 85% but always on high dose inhalers and nebs.

Puzzled by a past asthma attack experience
Around about 2019 I was staying at Harewood near Leeds visiting my parents. I was with a friend and when we were there we enjoyed exploring the Harewood Estate. Tucked away in the woods there, there is the original Harewood Castle which looks like a freestanding keep and is quite awe inspiring. To access

Nebulising - does it work?
See edit below.
I have severe COPD and am now on O2 (3lpd) with a cocktail of medications, including the use of salbutamol as a reliever. Whenever I have been to hospital one of the first treatments they turn to is nebulising me with salbutamol. The idea of course is to deliver more of the med

nervous about nebulisers on sale
Just back from Lidl, and as I was leaving I noticed nebulisers on sale at the checkout. It was a short queue, so not long to read it, but I did see that the box recommended the nebuliser for use with lung conditions including asthma, and also said it included a mask, making it ideal for use with children

Coughing again ...
Hi all - I posted here in early December after a trip to India set my asthma off because of the dreadful pollution. I saw a fabulous doctor who threw everything at me - nebulizer, antibiotics, steroids, Omeprazole, cough medicine and an antihistamine - which calmed it all down. He did say he couldn't

Lung crackles
I keep getting lung crackles and wheezing at the end of respiratory infections and needing steroids . The GP isn't interested and I always end up in A and E , given a nebuliser and a course is steroids to take home. Inhaled bicarbonate
Hi everyone! I recently saw a severe asthma specialist who prescribed me inhaled bicarbonate to use with my nebulizer (it's in liquid form) when my asthma is flaring. I have done it a few days in a row and have been pleasantly surprised by how nice it feels. It's not a replacement for ventolin but the
