Necrotising fascititis
I also want to add that in 2010 I was diagnosed with shingles & then later on that year I developed necrotising fascititis luckily my leg was saved but I needed massive skin grafts .&I was very ill . Is there any connection to the fact I have an under active thyroid gland.? Lilian

“To puff or not to puff ?”
The fact that smoking causes lung and heart disease isn't exactly news, and only tobacco industry executives would express (feigned) shock at being told. But, excuse the pun, cigarettes can lead to a whole slew of problems involving every system of your tar-filled body, especially if your immune system

Organ transplant
There are a few posts/posters on here about liver transplants, or people with advanced liver disease who might, in the future, need to be assessed for a liver transplant. It popped into my head, if we would be prepared to accept a liver transplant, would we also be prepared to donate our organs for

statins and liver enzymes.
Post failed stent causing MI and CABG, I take lipitor 20mg, bisoproplol, clopidogrel, omacor and ranitidine daily. Last blood tests revealed liver gamma at 130, (should be below 70). I have overall cholesterol of 2.8 (low), normal BMI, low BP, do not drink alcohol and other liver enzymes normal. Nurse

I had CABG in 2009 due to stent closing up and causing MI. Still here, but have low blood pressure episodes/ vasovagal episodes/ presyncope.
Pre stent, I felt physically well even though my LAD was 90% blocked. I have had several 24 hour and 2x3 day cardiac monitors and heart apparently fine. Ejection fraction 65%, so few problems there. I also developed stomach/bowel problems post op. and this seems to be associated with the presyncopes.

Green tea does not suit everyone!
Hi my husband has been hypothyroid for over 17 years. For the last 5 or 6 years has been very lethargic and lacking energy to such an extent that he has had to reduce his working to two days a week. I (not hypothyroid) was recently advised to drink green tea by a dermatologist to help scar healing

Thyroid Petition Debate at Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 5 Feb (tomorrow!)
This is edited and posted from an email I had from the TPA (Thyroid Patient Advocacy) although the parliament petition I believe is from individuals, with the TPA supporting them. I hope this does not contradict any guidelines by posting about another organisation. I'm not a member of their group but

The Great American Bucket List Tour Continues
Lori and I have been in Las Cruces since October 1 and last Wednesday we decided it's time to see new things. We will be moving west down Interstate 10 to the little city of Deming, New Mexico. The county seat of Luna County, Deming has four state parks within a half hour or so radius. Migratory birds

Balance Problems...
I was diagnosed with PD in 1998, probably had it a couple of years before that. I also have hypertension, coronary artery disease and had a heart attack and a 4-vessel coronary-artery-bypass-graft this past June. So when I say I have "balance problems," there are many possible causes. I already know
