Thyroid function tests
Hi all, The GP has printed off a form for me to take to the hospital tomorrow to check my TSH levels. I’ve noticed on the form it says, ‘thyroid function tests’. Does this include T3 and T4? I know last time I only had a result for TSH. If so, do I need to fast? My test isn’t until 4pm.

New Hyperthyroidism diagnosis
Hi all, I am new here and have found reading through all the information I’ve found here invaluable. I have recently been diagnosed as having hyperthyroidism- my story is in my bio. I have my first endocrinologist appointment this week and I’m not sure what to expect. My GP wouldn’t prescribe Carbimazole

A better appointment today!
After months of visiting the doctors surgery and having small levo increases with no change in my symptoms i have finally seen a sympathetic and intrigued doctor. He was reading my notes whilst i was explaining my symptoms and that 50mcg levo isn't cutting it, he stopped me in my tracks and said "no

ERFA Source
Hi. I remember from a long time ago, there is one stockist abroad that will sell ERFA without needing a prescription. I would be really grateful if anyone can tell me who it is by PM, thanks. I am desperate to try it as Thyroid S is no longer working for me. My health authority will not prescribe any

A message for Admin
Hello Admin. I posted recently and received a message from a scammer on here. You closed the chat thread so I can no longer see it. I was seeking advice on NDT availability. In short, I was contacted by a “member” who directed me to a SCAM website called [site name edited by admin]. I lost over £150

Dr Alan Christianson - Iodine Controlled Diet
Hi, Does anyone follow Dr Alan Christianson on social media or read any of his material? I find his video's very very informative and enjoy his content. He seems to be a very big supporter of an iodine controlled diet, and thyroid disease can be controlled by regulating iodine intake as appose to thyroid

Could chronic urticaria be related to underactive thyroid?
I've had under active thyroid for 5/6 years and have been on a dose of 50mcg of Levothyroxine for all of this time. This year I developed chronic urticaria and then a different kind of dermatitis/eczema and I want to rip my skin off it's so itchy. This week I did an Advanced Thyroid Function Blood Test

Thyroid hormones in the regulation of brown adipose tissue thermogenesis
This paper is the fourth most-cited in 2023 from the Endocrine Connections journal. Basic thyroid research is interesting. It is read. Scientists and some medical professionals do want more understanding. As do patients. It gets pretty complicated but the point is, thyroid hormone controls temperature

Help with timing, drinks etc for MonitorMyHealth Test
I was wondering what the best practice is for taking blood samples at home for a Monitor My Health test. I usually try to sleep 10pm-6am, and I have breakfast around 7.20am. However sometimes I don't sleep that long, for example today I slept from 10pm to 4am and couldn't sleep any more. I usually

If you visited a different time zone (-2hrs) for a week, would you adjust your dosage TIMING to match new time zone, or home time zone?
Would appreciate any advice on timing of taking thyroid meds, if travelling to a different time zone. I will be away for a week where the time zone is 2hrs difference. I normally take my NDT at 6am each day. Will the timing of taking the thyroid meds matter much for this short trip? I just don't know

AFIB and Levothyroxine (thyroid) dose.
Just a question for those of you that are hypothyroid and AFIB: Is your dose of thyroid medication less because you have AFIB, currently or in the past? Appreciate your input! Thanks!

Advice on Thyroid blood tests please?
hello everyone, could I get some input on my brother’s thyroid results please as I am attending his GP appointment with him. He has had three lots of thyroid testing since December 2023 and I think the first two results indicated Hypo and I believe that he should have been treated. However, a third

Heavy, prolonged periods
Could this be related to thyroid problems? All my life my cycles have been like clockwork. This last year though they've been extremely heavy, painful and long. I've actually been bleeding for over 2 weeks on and off now. It's really getting me down, and causing other very unpleasant symptoms. I developed

Preparing for GP appt
Hello I have a GP appointment in a few weeks to discuss blood tests results and symptoms (tiredness, weight gain, low mood, pins and needles). Based on what I've read on this forum, it sounds like these symptoms and results could be indicative of hypothyroid, but because TSH is within range I'm unlikely

Falling asleep troubles getting me down
I’ve come along way but this is getting me down. I cannot sleep before 12, often 1am, Wednesday was after 3am. I’ve taken sleeping tablets for a few years (low dose Amitriptyline) and gawd that helped massively resulting in a good 7hours sleep from midnight. I’m titrating NDT Armour and in January

Has anyone any experience of alternatives? Bugleweed herb? Or motherwort for palpatations?
Hi everyone, normally would fit profile of hypo, always tired, cold, hard to lose weight etc so doc put symptoms down to perimenopause, but a suspected heart episode one night led me to ask for bloods.TSH 0.01, T4, 49 and hypercalcemia both serum and adjusted. Decided to pay for ultrasound, three 6mm

DI02 Gene test
As if I hadn’t spent sufficient thousands on trying to find the answers I went and did a DI02 test to see whether I had difficulty in converting T4 to T3. Primarily to present my findings to the endo in the hope I may get Liothyronine on the NHS. The result came back saying the TT genotype appears

TPO Antibodies & Fertility Problems
Hello, just wondered peoples thoughts or experiences? I have never been diagnosed with a thyroid issue but after near 2 years of TTC and 2 miscarriages I do wonder if things could be better in the TSH/TPO antibody side of things. My GP has never shown a concern with it I have basically had to beg her
