Is it really necessary to take Alendronic Acid with these results?
Denosumab should be used with caution in patients at risk of recurrent or severe respiratory / urinary or skin or other infections and in this situation (or if it is not tolerated), IV bisphosphonates may be an alternative or
Strontium
Ranelate
could be considered (please see BNF for risk factors

W.H.O. Osteoporosis treatment levels graph?
I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2009 and treated with
Strontium
Ranelate
until they were taken away from me in 2016 because of heart attack risks, length of time I'd been on them. But nothing was prescribed instead, so I took OTC calcium and vitamin D myself.

For those who have fractured, drugs and supplements
I am looking at
Strontium
Ranelate
, I am in the UK so can get this, although I think the aspartamine in it will give me migraine which I get a lot, also, Raloxifene, but not sure this will prevent fractures enough, biodentical hormones are a possibility, maybe calcitonin as I have heard it prevents migraine

Update on Strontium Ranelate
I have rung my pharmacy up this morning about Strontium and they have just placed my order from the Alliance Healthcare, and they told me to ring back towards the end of the week to se how things have progressed. Think it's still very early days yet,but we shall see.

Osteoporosis & Strontium ranelate
Have any of those members with osteoporosis used
strontium
ranelate
? Apparently it's just come back on to the market and seems to have a good reputation compared to bisphosphonates. Any guidance appreciated!

Strontium Ranelate
They have updated their website because
Strontium
Ranelate
is now back on the market and on prescription. I’m nearly 4mths into treatment with Raloxifene without any side effects but it is good to know there is now another option, without having to consider bisphosonates.

What are members who took Strontium Ranelate, now taking instead?
I’ve been a member of the NOS since breaking both wrists in 2010. I was a regular forum poster until it closed down, so I’ve lost touch with most of the then, Forum members. I’ve been taking SR since 2011 with good results, even allowing for the up to 50% Strontium DEXA scan error. I was wondering

My "Osteoporosis" Journey
Although this is probably safer than
strontium
ranelate
(which is a manmade version so it could be patented) I personally would not recommend it. Strontium is heavier than calcium, replaces calcium in the bones. DXA readings become inaccurate.

Strontium Ranelate - TM Protelos
Hi, I'm a 56 year old who has been on the above med for a few years and found out by accident the makers are withdrawing the med in a few days (Aug 2017). My GP & Pharmacy were unaware until I told them. Anyone else caught out or did anyone get a notification?

Update on "25 years of Fosamax"
She related to my situation immediately and and shared her knowledge freely, answering all our questions about time on biophosphonates, alternatives like
Strontium
Ranelate
etc. At the end she encouraged me to consult our GP whom we have now seen. On GP's advice I am now taking a "Fosamax Holiday".

Strontium ranelate stopped working
Hi All, I'm looking for some help... I have been taking Protelos (SR) for the past 10 years (since breast cancer treatment) and over that time my DEXA scans have show a small increase in spine from -3.8 to -3.3 until the DEXA I had last week which has dropped back below the -3.8 (I'm not sure yet of

Strontium Ranalate and exercise
I was diagnosed 6 years ago with osteoporosis and after trying several treatments, the only one I could use with out side affects was
Strontium
Ranelate
,which I still take. My last Dexa showed a really good improvement and my spine is now osteopenia classed and my hip measurement has improved.
