Problems
Hi I was diagnosed 12 years ago with asthma and have gone through many treatments and the more I take the worse I get. After getting pleurisy several years ago and being on seretide and prednisole for 18 months I found that I couldn't even get up a standard flight of stairs without stopping a couple

Side effects
I now have a facial fuzz, steriod acne and scarring at 32, face and hair growth were fine before I had a series of steriods, seretide 500/250 depends, montekulsat, anthistamines and an antiobitic a day. I have tried desperately to reduce drugs to try and have a normal body. But bummmm my peak flow shoots

Seretide - twice a day or every 12 hours??
I know this has been discussed before but cant seem to find it in the search. I take Seretide but am not sure whether I should take it twice a day i.e when I get up (6-7am) and when I go to bed (10-11pm) or 12 hours apart. The reason I ask is that I take it when I get up at 6/7am but when I go for my

Further treatment options?
MY eldest daughter is 6 and her asthma which started off mild is progressing quite quickly. She is now on Seretide and montelukast and has needed 7 courses of Pred during the last 12 months. Her consultant today said that if she is not much better in 3 months, then we will need to look at further treatment

Huge THANK YOU :)
Hi, I have been struggling with my asthma worsening now for several months and been in and out of work during this time trying to stabilise. During these times of sitting in bed trying to catch some air I have been encouraged by checking in here and reading some of your posts and realising that I am

Another question about seretide
Again not seen the answer to this on any other threads but apologise if it's been asked before. I've not been sleeping too well for a while, hadn't linked it to seretide before but was naughty and didn't get repeat prescription in time. The two nights I haven't had seretide I have slept really well!

New to asthma
I have been recently diagnosed with cough variant asthma and wanted to know how others sufferers deal with it. I complained about a cough for 7 months and multiple visit to gp before being referred to a chest Specialist (after I insisted to be referred to) who diagnosed it. I'm a bit down really as don't

Safe to take Seretide and ventolin?
I'm hoping that this isn't too much like asking for medical advice but, apart from waiting hours for nhs direct to call me back, this seems the most sensible place to ask. My 7yo has been put on Seretide (low dose, the pale purple one:~/) but has come in from a very long bike ride on top of a very busy

Hoarseness when using inhaler - any advice please
Writing on behalf of my mum whose 74yrs and only this year newly diagnosed with asthma following a bout of pneumonia. She has been prescribed Seretide 125 inhaler (evohaler) and uses a large volumatic spacer (2 puffs twice a day) but finds her voice is very hoarse. She gargles/ rinses her mouth with

Should I do anything?
Have spent the last week with a sore throat and a really annoying tickly cough that's doing my head in. I haven't felt specific asthma symptoms other than a heavy chest, BUT my peak flow has dropped from 550 to 450 (so nearly 80% of PB) I don't have an asthma action plan but after looking on the internet

Feel a bit of a fraud!!
Last year I was given a salbutamol inhaler and a peak flow meter along with instructions to check PF morning and night and to try salbutamol before exercise and compare to exercise without to see if my symptoms were exercise induced asthma. The results led to confirmation of EIA. I continued to monitor

Was it an asthma attack?
Appologies, I know posts like this have come up before but I couldn't find an answer. Last night I went out for a run but had a hard time with my lungs and chest hurting so I cut it short, this was about 7pm. Later that night, around 11pm I was laid in bed and suddenly I was breathing really rapidly

Asthma and Altitude
Hi, Long time lurker, first time poster here. Given some of the great advice elsewhere on these boards that I have benefitted from in the past, I am hoping that someone might be able to help me here. Essentially, my asthma is fairly moderate, but has gone downhill over the past year or so - most probably
