COVID-19 cytokine storms may prevent a durable immune response.
PhD, investigator in the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard and professor at Harvard Medical School (HMS), recently published a paper in Cell showing that high levels of some cytokines seen in COVID-19 patients, as part of a cytokine storm, may prevent the development of long-term immunity to

A device to get COVID-19 test results instantly.
A breathalyzer created by engineering professor Nian Sun could dramatically reduce the time it takes to test for
SARS
-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Once approved by the FDA, the device could be a "game-changer" in the fight against the virus, Sun says. https://youtu.be/eqYTyFVplH0

We are mutating SARS-CoV-2, but it is evolving back.
Recent work from researchers at the Universities of Bath and Edinburgh, suggests that in the case of
SARS
-CoV-2, mutation may well not be a random process and that instead humans are mutating it, as part of a defence mechanism to degrade the virus. https://www.bath.ac.uk/announcements/we-are-mutating-

Confused me!
Hi everyone! I have been thinking about getting my vision corrected. I have nearsightedness at -1 as the power of my eyeglasses. I'm not a huge fan of wearing these glasses. Neither I'm interested in having things done on my eye. I came to know about this LASIK eye surgery in Boston (https://www.avantlasikspa.com

Perspective: T cell responses to COVID-19 are a crucial target for research.
While early research on the adaptive immune response to COVID-19 primarily looked at antibodies, more information is now emerging on how T cells react to the

Clofazimine

In cell studies, seaweed extract outperforms remdesivir in blocking COVID-19 virus.
Heparin, a common blood thinner, and a heparin variant stripped of its anticoagulant properties, performed on par with remdesivir in inhibiting
SARS
-CoV-2 infection in mammalian cells.

Pulmonary fibrosis treatment shows proof of principle.
A pre-clinical study led by scientists at Cincinnati Children's demonstrates that in mice the drug barasertib reverses the activation of fibroblasts that cause dangerous scar tissue to build up in the lungs of people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). https://www.embopress.org/doi/full/10.15252

Popular hypertension drugs don't increase risk of COVID-19 severity, fatality.
There have been concerns by the medical community worldwide that the drugs -- ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) -- might have caused an increase in ACE2, the main receptor for
SARS
-CoV-2, which could possibly increase the risk for this infection and its severity. https://news.northwestern.edu
