My Cefaly 2 exerience so far...
MEDICATION INTOLERANCE GROWS Over this past year, I became intolerant to
rizatriptan
. It made me feel very sick and left me incredibly dizzy and weak for days. Scary sick. I'd been through a number of other triptans, and all ended up the same way.

Migraine Summit Notes - lots of great advice
- Different meds: triptans all in tablet form / Zolmatriptan in wafer and nasal spray /
Rizatriptan
in wafer / Sumatriptan in nasal spray and injectable. - They all have different doses. Preventatives start at a low dose with acute starting at the highest (but can be lowered if need be.)

Triptan - rebound headache?
Using triptans and painkillers (ibuprofen and paracetamol) to manage attacks… I now have more attacks each month -
rizatriptan
is effective in stopping attack but recently have had 3 really nasty what I now think are rebound headaches.

Visual disturbance
My period started yesterday which mean that I woke up this morning with the headache and tingly tongue I associate with a migraine - small amount of
rizatriptan
(now 1/8 of a wafer seems to be the dose I need) sorted that out but later on - just after lunch time - when I was sitting on the sofa watching

I don't know what to do anymore :( Migraine for 18 days straight..
When it happened last year, the doctor changed my triptan for a month to
Rizatriptan
which after the 12 tabs, the migraine started tapering off and I ended up with my usual cycle. I could have sworn it was not as drawn out as this migraine though.

I really got worried when a my new neurologist told me how bad the triptins (
Rizatriptan
)were which I was using to manage my life. I had also been trying Epilim Chrono (sodium valproate) which are used by epileptics. I also take amytriptlyn.

Maxalt when to take
I take Maxalt which is
rizatriptan
. The instructions are very clear that the drug should not be taken until the headache starts. However if I wait until then the drug is ineffective.

Weight gain with thyroid problems
I also suffer from very bad migraines, on
Rizatriptan
10mg when needed. I am also registered deaf following a virus 7 years ago. Yes I have gained weight over the years, but felt well, all medication in place, and take great care with a healthy lifestyle.

atenolol & rizatriptan
I've also been prescribed
rizatriptan
- haven't had any success with previous triptans but GP said it was perhaps because those were in tablet form and wouldn't be absorbed very well, whereas
rizatriptan
is a self-dissolving wafer so would get into the system better & quicker.

Propranolol advice/experience
I've just been prescribed propranolol by my GP since sumatriptan, amitrityline, pizotifen and
rizatriptan
benzoate do not work for me. I've been reading that propranolol causes people to feel very tired/fatigued and that it deters them from long periods of exercise.

how desperate do I need to be to get a referral?
suffered from migraines for 10+ years, tried pizotifen, amytriptyline and varying strengths of propanolol.
rizatriptan
sometimes sort of helps but side effects make me reluctant to take it when I'm at work.

Sertraline and Rizatriptan Clash
I saw my GP who informed me that the Sertraline was reacting to the Migraine painkiller-
Rizatriptan
(maxalt melt) which when taken together causes way too much Seretonin. My GP took me off Sertaline gradually, as there were no alternatives for the migraine treatment.
