Have you had a hysterectomy and did you keep/not keep your ovaries?
Hi ladies, I am in the consultation process of having a hysterectomy. The question is though do I or do I not keep my ovaries? I lean towards them being taken out as I am on zoladex, and stopped hrt due to pains coming back - so in essence if they are taken out and I take a calcium supplement, this

I am looking to find out any information from anyone who has experienced removal of ovaries pre menopause?
I ‘m 42 with a history of endometriosis and fibroids and a Mother who died from OC aged 57 (diagnosed at 46). I have just had my annual ovarian screening and am awaiting an appointment with a consultant after another potential fibroid has been found, it’s blocking the view of my left ovary so the sonographer

Any tips for dealing with fatigue associated with surgical menopause?
I seem to be really, really tired most of the time (not even a strong cuppa wakes me up!) and I'm suspecting it's the surgical menopause. (I can't have HRT as my tumours were strongly oestrogen receptive). My gynaecologist gave me a review paper to read from the Royal College of Gynaecologists/Obstetricians

Great Sunday Times Article Dec 09
This article came out recently in the Sunday Times - brilliantly written story: I was just 40 when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. That’s pretty unusual — only 15% of cases occur in women below the age of 50. It’s one of those diseases that’s completely unsexy. It lacks the trendy factor: we don

Hi everyone. I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Kerry, I was 37 when I was eventually diagnosed last year. I finished treatment (surgery and chemo) in February 2010. After treatment ended I was relieved on the one hand but on the other, I felt as though I'd been cast adrift in the ocean, with no prior

Anyone have similar experience?
Hi, I was diagnosed with multilocular complex cysts on left ovary with Ca125 level of 145 in December and was due to have laparoscopic removal of left ovary and tube + - bilateral yesterday. When I came round from op I thought that it had been done. On reading the discharge letter I realised that the

Surgical menopause - how long it lasts without HRT? and sur meno related insomnia - any tips? Am going slowly bonkers from lack of sleep...
Since my op last August I've been in surgical menopause (with a couple of 'holidays' due to HRT as part of IVF treatment). My tumours were oestrogen receptive so I can't have any HRT normally long-term, nor oestrogen creams, nor lots of phyto-oestrogens. I'm really struggling at the moment with insomnia

Gallbladder removal even more fatigued
Had to be admitted to hospital last Monday as emergency. Never been so ill they removed my gallbladder on the Tuesday said it was badly infected and and all the gallstones had gone solid. Had keyhole surgery anybody else had this done ? Was just wondering if having PBC makes the recovery any longer ?

Advice on Surgical Menopause in your 40's
Dear Ladies, I‘m looking for advice, help and support on surgical menopause. I’m a long term sufferer of endometriosis (approximately 25 years), along with fibroids. I’ve had a variety of treatments and surgery over the years. My Mother died from ovarian cancer in 2002 (she was originally diagnosed

Hi there, I realise this might be a delicate topic but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or tips for me! I've been in the surgical menopause since August 2010 after having a BSO at age 33...unfortunately I can't have HRT as my tumours were oestrogen-receptive and I'm finding some aspects of

Ovary removal
I am 66 years old. I have been monitored for fibroids. This week I went for an ultrasound scan and vaginal scan. The fibroids had shrunk but my right ovary had enlarged. in September the scan showed a cyst on my ovary. The gynaecologist advised me to have my ovaries removed and is making an appointment
