Steroid Hormones and Progression of Localized High-Risk PCa
Abstract BACKGROUND: In men with localized prostate cancer (PCa) who are undergoing radical
prostatectomy
(RP), it is uncertain whether their hormonal environment is associated with outcomes.

Considering the side effects, is post prostatectomy salvidge radiation, along with hormone therapy, worth the risks?
Went back to City of Hope where
prostatectomy
was done 5 years ago. One doctor wanted radiation and Lupron. Another doctor said radiation alone was good.

hello. 75 year old man with radical

in December. I had biopsy in August with 2 or 12 cores positive at Gleason7 & G8. Prostate Specific Antigen was 13 having quadrupled in a year. MRI and bone scans were negative. Pelvic nodes at surgery were negative.

Testosterone after Brachytherapy.
And, even at 18 months, recovery was only to baseline - not to the higher levels seen following
prostatectomy
. "Patients were followed for 24-60 months", but increases over baseline were not reported, at least in the Abstract.

Hormone therapy for post prostatectomy cancer recurrence.
I have been reading that hormone therapy, including Lupron, can cause cognitive decline. Has anyone heard of this, or had experience with this? Thanks

Take your time before deciding
The only times I ever hear patients regret the initial treatment decision (whether
prostatectomy
, radiation, active surveillance, or ablation) is when they didn't take the time to investigate all their options before deciding.

Hi from down under.
I was referred to a urological surgeon and in August underwent a radical
prostatectomy
done by the da Vinci method. Unfortunately the Gleason score was increased to 9 and was told I had an advanced and aggressive cancer. My post op psa dropped to 0.03 from a pre op reading of 6.5.

An update on my situation...
And I know I did not have a
prostatectomy
10 years ago. So they planted a garden of seeds in the prostate. After 2-3 months the PSA was down to ~1.8 and after 9 months it was down to .447 and .437 with no Lupron! So far so good! The seeds are about done, and it was worth it

More on Axumin, a question
I have had a
prostatectomy
(5 years ago) I have also had radiation to prostate bed AND lymph nodes in that area. (3 1/2 years ago) But, I have a rising PSA, theoretically it should no longer be in either of those two places.

Gleason grade 8 (4x4) Next move in progress
I am declining radiation in favor of da Vinci radical
prostatectomy
(RP) for a number of complex reasons unique to my health issues and age. My immediate need is to find the best surgeon within the North East or Central US preferred.

He opted out of that and went to Mayo, had a
prostatectomy
and bladder reconstruction (from a benign tumor) .They said with radiation, that would have been too difficult, likely. (lucky he didn't do that) All looked good clear margines, vesicles, lymph nodes, scans ...

I under went a Radical
Prostatectomy
in August of 2018. My physical recovery is going pretty well... with the exception of a lingering UTI. I’ve had 5 courses of antibiotics and hope it’s finally gone.

Genetic testing-how useful is it?
On Nov 14 had robotic
prostatectomy
as part of SIMCAP clinical trial. Asked surgeon to make sure that a sample be sent to Foundation Medicine for genetic testing. Was told I didn't need to bother as I will be getting full genetic mapping as part of the trial.

The wait is over, surgery completed 12/18
After the agonizing months of wait and indecision I had the da Vinci Radical
Prostatectomy
on Dec 18th. My recovery has gone well and have been liberated from my cath since yesterday. Now I'm trying to adapt to the new world order. I got some of those Depends.
