I'm 78 and self employed. PSAT rose to .3. Went back to City of Hope where prostatectomy was done 5 years ago. One doctor wanted radiation and Lupron. Another doctor said radiation alone was good.

Considering the side effects, is post prostatectomy salvidge radiation, along with hormone therapy, worth the risks?
PSA not PSAT. Darn spell check.
The risks are higher, if you do it without ADT. You can stop ADT after six months if you do not want to continue or use Casodex instead. The "official" recommendation is 18 months.
If you have no adverse pathology and your PSA is under 0.5, and you are getting sufficient salvage radiation dose, many ROs leave out the ADT. Look at the questions raised here:
once the prostrate is removed there isn't alot of stuff to do. i had radiation so my prostrate was melted as they say. i couldn't have it surgically removed so i'm like u treatment is pills is the only option now.

Give ADT a chance. Lupron or Eligard. I've had both and Eligard is working great for me. Radiation is forever. I had the standard 3months ADT-radiation- 3months ADT came out with a .8 PSA and said no more Lupron. PSA shot up so I'm now settled into Lexigard. ADT is the hero of most PC treatment in my humble and not so unlearned opinion.
