I had a
prostatectomy
in November. The pathology of my prostate showed no cancer in the margins or lymph nodes. However, my first post-surgical PSA was 0.06 and my next was 0.09 a month later. Taking a 3rd March 1st.My treatment plan now is PBRT and PLNRT radiation and short term hormones.

Conquering ED
So blessed that incontinence and PSA are under control after
prostatectomy
. My pre-surgery SHIM (Sexual Health Inventory for Men) was 24; it is now 5. Sadly, this is "severe ED" on the scoring system. Surgery was Oct 2018, almost six months ago. I take 5mg sildenafil at night.

"Taking vitamin D supplements could slow or even reverse the progression of less aggressive, or low-grade, prostate tumors"
March 22, 2019 "Hollis wondered if giving these men vitamin D supplements during the 60-day waiting period would affect their prostate cancer. His previous research had shown that when men with low-grade prostate cancer took vitamin D supplements for a year, 55 percent of them showed decreased Gleason

Looking for Other Perspectives
My
prostatectomy
was in November. The pathology on my prostate said it was negative to cancer in the lymph nodes and margins and expected a clean psa. In January, my PSA was 0.06, in Feb it was 0.09. I have another psa at the end of this week.

My dads stage 4 castrate resistant prostate cancer diagnosis
My dad had an lrp (robotic
prostatectomy
) in May of 2016. He had a Gleason 4+4 very agressive form of prostate cancer so he opted for surgical removal. His PSA was undetectable for a few months after. Slowly his PSA started to rise (0.5 - 2) over a few months.

When they contact us, we determine if they have a biochemical recurrence, which we define as somebody who’s had
prostatectomy
followed by two rising PSAs above 0.2. If PSA doubling time is between three and nine months, those patients are potentially eligible for this trial.

Patel did not repeat PSA nor biopsy, but scheduled robotic simple
prostatectomy
based on history and latest biopsy results (3 months earlier). August 14, 2014, laparoscopic robotic simple
prostatectomy
, Dr. Vipul Patel. Prostatic tissue removed in “simple” was 86 grams.

To Go Public or Not
At the time I was 58 years old, and I opted for a radical
prostatectomy
. I had the surgery nine weeks later, giving me ample time to recover from the biopsy. The lab report that came back revealed that the cancer was contained within the prostate, and that only five percent was affected.

More ED-related Questions
Would such a test predict the success of nerve sparing following radical
prostatectomy
? My Urologist has not tested my testosterone level. Is it pretty standard for PCa patients (post RP) to be tested?

New Diagnosis
Unfortunately they didn’t know how extensive the cancer was until he was in surgery for his
prostatectomy
and the surgeon had to abort because he saw the tumor had grown out of the prostate. He did take some tissue from the peritoneal cavity and it came back with cancer in it as well.
