Prednisone

I'm currently on Azathioprine and Prednisone. It's helped a lot. I'm still very sick some of the time but at least not all the time. That 1 doctor is my hero.

She recommend a knee replacement, but is concerned that the prednisone would interfere with the success of the replacement process and has referred me to both a knee surgeon and rheumatology. I wonder if anybody else has experienced this situation?

I was aware that the earlier in the morning the better, but because I take my thyroid medication first thing in the morning, I usually end up taking my prednisone around 11am. I didn’t take my prednisone until after I had the blood draw, which was around 9:45am.

I have been on prednisone for about 2 1/2 years. I recently got down to 8 mg a day for about 3 months with NO PAIN (oh the bliss...). I went to 7.5 mg about 3 1/2 weeks ago and am having a major flare.

I'm wary of being "forced" off prednisone and equally don't want to stay on longer than I need to. Just a bit lost here.

Since going on meth and hydroxy, been able to steadily drop prednisone. Everything feels reasonably ok except for occasional morning stiffness which is odd as I dont feel stiff when I get up during the night like around 3 or 4 am.

I wasn't this bad on prednisone and I really don't want to go back on it either. It's confusing as paracetamol helps albeit temporarily. GP and rheumatologist at odds over fibromyalgia and PMR. Been a 2.5 yr health battle thus far and still no conclusion.

Mum started taking 80mg Prednisone which has been an incredible help, and she is feeling better today, she has not had another in eye blindness (left eye) episode. But the left eye blindness has happened 4 times in total now (duration 1-4 minutes.

Is 3000mg SSZ sound like too much if still reducing prednisone. I'm on day 10 SSZ at 2000 mg SSZ and due to go to 2500 mg on day 13 and then level off at 3000 on day 16? I'm reducing prednisone by 2.5 a week Currently at 15 mg

I hate the very idea of yoyoing with steroids but I in a place now where I don't know what's right and what's not!I posted about a month ago on tapering from 8mg to 7.5mg Pred. I had a flare so as per advice I did up by 5mg for 10/11 days and dropped back to my last comfortable place which was 8mg.

Over 4 years I have slowly reduced my prednisolone from 15mg to a half, with only one minor flare. Using the DSNS plan I am now at half one day, zero the next. I’ve been reducing Prednisolone alongside Methotrexate for the past 3 months under a specialist Rheumatology Centre. I only ever speak to nurses after an initial consultation with a Registrar back in July. They have now passed my prescriptions and blood testing over to my GP under the Shared Care Protocol
