State of the NHS
I’m posting this just to highlight the difficulties the NHS is in at the moment, I’m a 75 year old asthmaric and have had a cold and chesty cough for nearly 3 weeks. I finally decided this wasn’t going to clear up by itself. There was no way I was going to get an appointment with my GP any time soon.

hydrocortisone or prednisone?
I am considering switching back to
prednisone
to continue my tapering. Hydrocortisone seems to upset my stomach more and needs to be taken twice a day. I also feel like I feel more pressure in my temple areas that I did not feel when taking
prednisone
.

I take 100mcg levothyroxine at approx. 6am daily . At 4pm today I took half a pipette of over the counter CBD Oil which had the immediate effect of raising my heartbeat just as I used to experience when at the dentist I received injections for anasthaesia which contained adrenalin .( I now know to

Further COVID boosters
Currently I am taking myself down to 5.5mgs of
prednisone
so would anticipate being at 4/4.5mgs at the sped I have been going, which is ridiculously slowly (had to increase when I caught COVID to deal with the slight flare I got) Any thoughts?

Post Operative Steroids
I am now home after having a new knee fitted. They kept me in an extra night due to being in surgery much longer than anticipated and low sodium levels, so saline drip overnight. I am guessing I was given more anaesthesia than planned, I am finding that I am more tired than I've ever felt. I can

? Cover required for endometrial biopsy
I have been on prednisolone for over 2 years now and still on 10mg. I have a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy planned tomorrow and although this is only a minor procedure with no general anaesthetic or sedation, I’m just wondering whether I will need any extra steroid cover? Does anyone have any knowledge

Side effects
I do 5 mg of
prednisone
1000 mg of abiraterone and Lupron every 4 months.
Prednisone
has been very tough on me, I've gained 29 pounds weight in two months, the muscle cramps and feet twitching are unbearable. My PSA has come down from 24 in January to 0.84 last Monday.

GCA flares and eyesight
Thank you to everybody on this site – I have found it very helpful. I was diagnosed with GCA in September. I have to say my GP and Bath Hospital were excellent though it was a shock. My sight tested OK in the Eye Clinic. I started on 60 prednisolone reducing, and I am coping quite well, but I am paranoid

max inhaler dose?
Hi everyone. I saw the hospital respiratory team about a month ago, who said that it is ok to take 5 puffs rather than the suggested max 4 puffs Fostair 200/6, as a kind of last resort before prednisolone. I’ve taken a lot of steroids this year and am trying to reduce the number of courses. However,

Actemra and aches and pains!
I was put on Actemra about 3 months ago and have dropped as prescribed i.e. 1mg per month. I have had GCA for 14 years and was stuck on 14mgs of prednisolone for some time. It has been a struggle at times but a few weeks ago I noted I was beginning to ache in my muscles and joints similar to fourteen

Flare or Adrenals waking up
I was diagnosed with PMR October 2022 and I am currently down to 4mg Prednisolone ( down from 4.5 on 3/11). Since Monday I have been waking up around 4mg with pain in my hips. Not excruciating but definitely enough to keep me awake for a while, now getting pain in shoulders as well. This goes after

Thank you all!
Today I met with my new doctor who told me I’ve been on
prednisone
too long (2 1/2 years) and I need to get off it soon. When I asked her how long people usually get off pred with PMR she answered two years. I now am making appointment tomorrow with a different doctor! I again am taking control!

New to biologics - don't feel particularly well.
Evening all. Hope everyone is managing ok in this cold weather 🥶. So in the last 2 weeks I've had to take rescue doses for my adrenal insufficiency, had 2 emergency hydrocortisone injections (each one administered by work colleagues a week apart) as not caught early enough and generally felt off.

Prednisolone and osteopenia
Hi I had a Dex scan a few weeks ago and my bone density showed I have osteopenia, I was given calcium and vitamin D tablets to take twice a day. So would it help if I drank milk to help to augment this as I don't have milk normally but have yogurt. Thank you in advance for any replies. Peter.

Update on LDN
My second hope is that I can eventually stay on a maintenance dose of LDN instead of
prednisone
. Whereas
prednisone
does the job on PMR, it suppresses the immune system and comes with negative side effects.
