Steroid injection into Kiloid Scars
I have a dermatology appointment on Saturday (yes an NHS appointment on a Saturday) to review treatment of kiloid scars. I think one of the options suggested may be direct steroid injections into the scars themselves. I have had PMR for 9 years and have at last got stable on 7 mg prednisolone daily

Colonoscopy
Just have a question. I was put on a 5 Day taper of 16mg of prednisolone. I took my first dose today along with a one time dose of diflucan. Will I be ok to have my colonoscopy tomorrow?

How rare is it to be diagnosed with PMR at age 45?
I am writing to ask advice from this excellent Forum which has been such a help to me in the 3 years since I was eventually diagnosed with PMR, having had a nightmare obtaining help and support due to Covid, lockdowns, lack of face to face appointments etc. My own journey remains a struggle, but I'm

Medication prescribed alongside prednisolone
Hi, hope everyone is well. I have been prescribed steroids for my most recent transfer. Fortunately I was lucky enough to get a positive this morning on test day. I was prescribed lansoprazole a PPI to protect stomach whilst taking the steroids. My husband has gone to collect top up meds to cover me

methotrexate
I have been on prednisolone since last August for GCA/PMR and am getting down to lower levels (10mg). Rheumy wants to add methotrexate as need to get off steroids due to osteoporosis. I read all the leaflet last night and scared myself to death! Has anyone got experience to share of this drug particularly

Hi there, I haven't posted for a while as I successfully came off the prednisolone in January this year (well, I thought successfully).Since then (on March 26th 2024) I had a cardiac catheter ablation for paroxysmal AF, so far so good although recovery has been a bit of a bumpy ride. Basal cortisol test result
Following my previous post, I had blood taken on 10 June and have just phoned my GP surgery for the result, which was given as 396nmol/l. The GP had noted “no further suppression required”. I would now like to start reducing Prednisolone 1mg to 0.75mg using Dorset Lady’s 7-week reduction plan and see

asking for advice please? I started with PMR last October, as soon as I was prescribed 15 ml Prednisolone I felt like I had been given a magic wand. The medication has gradually been reduced & I am now down to 6mg. I have had no trouble ever since. About 4 days ago, I guessed I had pulled a muscle

PMR relapse?
I would be grateful for some advice! I was diagnosed with PMR end of 2022. I was put on 15 mg Prednisolone and started tapering around 2 months in. I stopped Pred December 23! Around 10 weeks ago started waking in early hours in bad pain chiefly in shoulders and hips but also shooting pains in limbs

Does GCA Recur ?
After taking
Prednisone
only, and a few minor flares, I have slowly tapered down and as of June 29th 2023 am now off of the steroids. My question is, does GCA return, and if so, at what percentage? Thank you so very much for this site.

pred plus methotrexate?
Tapered, slowly, to 3mg of Prednisolone.Stiff and achey legs and hips in the morning but gone by afternoon. Saw rheumatologist today who wants to increase pred to 6mg and add 15mg methotrexate once a week. Will review in 6 weeks. Inflammation levels in blood are high - 18 - would that be good reason

Hike in T-Score due to steroid use. Worrying.
Hi All, just yesterday I finally got results from my DEXA .scan which I had done on 3rd of April. My T Score was T-2.3 (osteopina). My last DEXA scan showed my T-Score as -1.7 and deemed to be ok. This is quite a hike and I'm quite upset by i seeing that T-2.5 is Osteoporosis. I am Prednisolone

Covid, covid test and tapering
Very slow tapering (DL style and working well) currently at 5mg prednisolone. Just into my 3rd year PMR diagnosis, when I contracted covid. Staying put at 5 mg now. PMR bouts of fatigue and sleepiness much worse this time though just starting to improve a little. not the case on my previous covid infection

Feeling dispirited having had a flying start to meds, now regressing. Advice
Diagnosed and prescribed 20mgs of prednisolone 5 days ago. Woke up the next morning and a miracle had occurred. 95% improvement, could get out of bed, dress etc... Yesterday some symptoms returned mildly, today only 50% if that. Shoulder, neck, arms, legs and hands stiff. Is this normal? I haven't overdone

Anyone here who was prescribed prediniasolone 10mg thrice a day after positive bhcg and had successful pregnancy?
I had 6 previous losses. My doc didn't prescribe prednisolone but one of my relative who is a gynec asked me to start it thrice a day as i have a history of recurrent miscarriages. Im aware of this med being a steroid n im confused whether to start or not. As i read abt it's side effects. Please share
