Slowly recovering after TIA from a bad AF attack, has left me feeling very anxious.
I am now on anti coagulant
pradaxa
which offers some protection from stroke. Some nights I have stayed awake and fear going to sleep as the worst AF attacks always seem to happen at night. I am on waiting list for pulmonary vein ablation 8 weeks into 5/6 month waiting list.

Understanding heart condition atrial fibrillation?
In May last year, all three drugs — dabigatran (
Pradaxa
), apixaban (Eliquis) and rivaroxaban (Xarelto) — were approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

When I left hospital yesterday the Sotolol I take was upped from 40mg twice a day to 120mg twice a day and I was also put on
Pradaxa
150mg twice per day. Such a disappointment after being taken off Warfarin and having Sotolol dosage so reduced.

Pradaxa. Anybody else taking this?
I was given no information or advice when I was prescribed this. Has anyone experienced any side effects? I understand that unlike Warfarin there is no monitoring involved.

Anyway the cardiologist wants me to go on
Pradaxa
instead of Warfarin. Is anyone else on it or have any opinions?

How do 4 aspirin/day compare in terms of strength with clexane injection?
I know what the alternatives are (at present, till we get
Pradaxa
or whatever). I was just thinking I might try 4 aspirin a day instead of 2, as Prof K suggested when I saw him a couple of weeks back and was wondering if anyone else had any experience of doing this compared with clexane.

Are Eliquis, Pradaxa or Dabigatran available on the NHS? They are more efficient than Warfarin and are recommended by NICE

Warfarin or the new Anticoagulants Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) or Pradaxa (dabigatran)
A new study published in the March 2012 American Heart Journal looked at whether the
Pradaxa
® medication or warfarin was more cost-effective for you.

Correction of mistake in a Moderators answer.
On the 29th August an ACE moderator answered a question about the oral anticoagulant
Pradaxa
. It was stated that the drug has a licence for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. This is incorrect.

Has anyone try Pradaxa in replacement to Warfarin? Is Pradaxa applicable to APS? What are the side effect?

Interesting News and Information
I have asked my GP recently to consider whether I am suitable for one of the new anticoagulant drugs (NOACs) Dabigatran (
Pradaxa
) or Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) for my condition venous thromboembolism (VT); as I have a reaction to warfarin.

Dabigatran (Pradaxa) IPad App
There is an IPad App available to provide advice about the anticoagulation dabigatran. This was developed by Dr Paul Harper MD, FRCP, FRACP. This app is provides extremely important information, as there is no antidote should you need emergency treatment. I would be interested in anyone who would like

Pradaxa/Dabigatran
I was just wondering for all of you who are on Warfarin (I myself am on aspirin) if you have heard anything about the drug
Pradaxa
being used for Hughes Syndrome? I first found out about this drug in relation to my father's heart problems.
