Does this sound like an asthma flare up?
I was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 9, and took a preventer until the age of 14 when I thought I had grown out of it, since the cough and chest tightness was dealt with by the preventer and I had never been given a reliever as never needed it. I had never had hayfever as a child, but over the

How do you know when to go to the doctor?
Okay let me start off by giving a bit of background information. I was diagnosed a couple of years ago, I'm generally mild and exercise induced, I only use salbutamol and antihistamines as far as medication for asthma. The nurse keeps saying we might put you onto a steroid inhaler but we'll see. So my

Trying alternative medicine for allergies (or do your allergy meds help enough?)
Hi everyone, I know I've been gone for a bit. If you remember I had surgery as it turned out my esophagus was compressed, and I kept aspirating and getting pneumonia. So the good news is that after getting a post op pneumonia is February, I've been very healthy ever since! I still take singulair, and

Hayfever???
Hi everyone, I posted not that long back about constant chest tightness, it started probably when we began the lovely spell of weather that we have been having. I've had no other symptoms but tightness right in the centre of my chest like I'm being sat on! I have been taking much more ventolin than

How do you make a diagnosis?
When I go home to visit my family - and the family dog - I end feeling fairly ill due to sneezing, wheezing and other generally unpleasant things. When I was living with my family this happened on and off, and since then, it happens every time I go home for the weekend. Since I'll be going home for

A bit of a rant - sorry!
Hi all, Been to see doc again this morning as I think I'm heading for a flare up again; not that it has still calmed down properly from last time! Peak flow is steady dropping, ventolin not as effective and sometimes symptoms are shifting a little after a double dose - 2 puffs and 2 again 10 mins later

My path through the minefield too diagnosis.
Hi all As a child as far as I can remember I didn't really catch all the colds and bugs my siblings caught. Always had severe reactions to insect bites and stings. Always suffered with abdominal pain and problems with stomach. Into teenage years repeatedly suffered migraines, tonsilitus, glandular

I am the one and only
I like Chesney Hawkes about as much as I like having my teeth removed by squirrel monkeys with a head full of LSD but it's an apt title. I'm not around lately as I haven't been well. Here's a brief history of the last couple of years. Diagnosis. Start Sulfasalazine. Develop severe allergic reaction

Holiday tribulations
hi thought I'd share my holiday tribulations. We're in a lovely one storey cottage on the island of Arran. Everything carefully chosen so as not to cause problems, a fabulous view everything just wonderful. Including unfortunately for me, the weather! Now I know that the methotrexate makes me photosensitive
