Stopping me breaking something returning to racing
Thanks to the encouragement from members of this forum I am now back up to parkruns again. I am now looking to enter club 10k races. I am speaking to my GP next week and ideally I would like to get their clearance, or a cardiologists, on how hard I can push myself. The surgeons did a good job and I

Glaucoma, prednisolone and anxiety supplements
Good morning all I am being treated for GCA and at the moment I’m on 20mg of of prednisilone, I am coping ok and trying to stay as healthy as possible, I already have glaucoma and sadly the steroids have pushed my eye pressure up, I saw my eye consultant yesterday, he is quite concerned, the operation

It's my turn now....
I've been on the waiting list since November '23 and now this afternoon I am being admitted to hospital for a CABG x5 tomorrow (12th April) - hopefully no last minute cancellation. Had a heart attack and stents back in 2019 and was blue lighted into hospital so no time to think about what was happening

Dentists
Hi everyone-I am due to have CABG July/August. I have a routing check up at dentist this month. I have read somewhere of a link between teeth/gums and heart disease. What are the risks, if any? Is there any chance of dental treatment delaying the heart operation? Thanks

Hi everyone, I'll try to keep this one short today and not write a doctoral dissertation of emotions. That's how I feel and at least with my "community fam" - it's a no judgement zone. I'm feeling fair since the Kidney Stone/Lithotripsy Stent Procedure surgery. That's a mouth full (right) - some days

Travel insurance to cover Endometriosis when waiting for surgery
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a travel insurance provider that would cover me for Endometriosis and Hydronephrosis (due to Endometriosis). I am struggling to find anyone to insure me because I am on a waiting list for a laproscopy and i need my kidney stent changing in June.

Burning pain in right armpit (CABG 10/18/23)
Hi everybody!I had my CABG done last Oct and was wondering if anyone else has experienced a burning shooting pain in one or both of their armpits? It started about a month or so ago in my right armpit and has continously gotten a little stronger over time.

Low heart rate
12 days ago my husband had a log hit him in the shin whilst splitting logs. At the time it came up like a tennis ball but other than that didn’t think too much of it. The swelling has gone down but he is getting pain in his leg. Not the leg they harvested from for his CABG x5). Eventually we decided

Tomorrow I get my Cardiac CT Results
I was hoping that I could reverse my plaque scores but after reading a medical journal, I will now be happy with status quo. This is what it states: Coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG) have been proposed to accelerate native coronary atherosclerosis. In patients with established coronary artery disease

BP with COPD and Thyroid
I’ve been on 75 aspirin; bisoprolol 6.25mg daily; Ranolazine 375mg twice daily; and PRALUENT injections from when I had a stent fitted and my bp 145/78 pulse 58 which was great but my bp has gradually increased to 157/85 pulse 67 , I was on Allopurinol before stent was filled but I kept swelling up!

8 months post Nstemi and quadruple CABG
it’s not all been a linear progress but it has been pretty darn good. Back ggedt issue I’ve had is with my statins. I thought it was the Bisoprolol (1.25mg ) and ramipril (half a 1.25mg tablet) that was making me dizzy , fatigued and zombie like every afternoon to early evening. Plus I had cognitive

My progress
Last weekend was 9 months since my AVR & CABG. I also had 2xPCI three weeks before that. This week I’ve been back to my local Cardiac Unit for a progress check. I’d had blood tests a month ago with my GP and they were fine. So the result is I’ve been told that they will book an echo for me in two years

A random post just wondered how others feel. I had my heart attack 9 weeks ago a stemi totally blocked artery RCA, had warning signs for a couple of years sometimes out of breath and felt like bad indigestion ignored them (as you tend to do!!) called it my 'funny turn' it would pass after 5-10 minutes

I need your experiences please on high liver function results whilst on statins
Hi Following MI in November and stent I have been progressing well on my journey, today Gp advised my liver function tests are ridiculously high, ten times normal values, they are being repeated and depending on results she may require to stop the statins or investigate liver function further for compromised

Dear all I had an 3 X cabg last summer ( I am only 44) and now I am experiencing chest discomfort and have had high pulse (apple watch) with minium effort. I went through blood tests and ekg and echo which all came in fine. This does not feel normal to me, has anyone experienced same symptoms and

Follow up to Monday CABG
First of all I want to thank you all for the messages of support i received before my operation on the 19th of February. The good news is that my triple bypass was a success ! I spent a total of 10 days in hospital, I had a few ups and downs, but overall I have had a positive experience, albeit sometimes
