Article from Stop the Thyroid Madness Now regarding hypothyroidism and deficiencies:
When food hits your stomach, it’s your stomach’s gastric acid that begins the breakdown of protein and most minerals with
pepsin
to prepare for the important absorption of key nutrients (like iron B12, Vit. D and MORE) in those foods for your health and well-being.

Does lack of digestive enzymes in saliva and stomach go with Sjogrens ? Lost a lot of weight, no appetite, food hard to digest.
Taking amylase
pepsin
and betaine enzymes which help with the pain and bloating. Suggestions or comments welcome ! Thanks all, Jayne

Phytic acid inhibits the three enzymes that we need to digest our food, including
pepsin
, needed for the breakdown of proteins in the stomach, amylase, needed for the breakdown of starch into sugar and Trypsin, needed for protein digestion in the small intestine.

You know, I really should have asked this question sooner..!
I've made a number of posts recently about my worries to do with
pepsin
in my throat, LPR and other GI/ENT problems I've been having for the last few months.

This one's gonna be a long one..! - LPR: A chronic, troublesome puzzle
LPR is caused by the stomach enzyme
Pepsin
. And
Pepsin
is well known for causing esophageal/larynx/lung cancer. In fact more people with LPR are likely to get cancer than those with GERD. Just ask Dr. Jamie Koufman, a resident expert in the field.

No hope, no cure, no future. Hit rock bottom ;(
LPR hardly ever causes visible damage the way GERD does, so many patients are written off with anxiety and a LOT more patients with LPR go on to get Barrett's Esophagus or Throat/Esophageal/Lung cancer from the
pepsin
or bile or whatever the medication can't block.
