Am i doing it right?
Have just been given a peak flow meter by doc but am not sure if I'm doing it right? At the end of my exhale, my chest 'barks', should I disregard the reading? I find it hard to do without this happenning and end up with a much lower reading.

Peak Flow Chart
On Seretide 250, two puffs, twice daily. I got bored filling in my Peak Flow chart and even more bored of blowing into the meter, a good few months back. My peak flow is 290 - 310, maybe 220 - 350 once or twice. With a mostly unfilled-in peak flow chart, will I get my knuckles rapped when next see

Grumps
Peak flow not really any better since first diagnosed. I'm worried the asthma nurse will think I'm not really trying with the peak flow meter readings. What would be next on the cards if its still hovering around the 280 - 310 mark. I'm on Symbicort 200/6 at the moment. I really only take the reliever

Has been a rough week
Well, since Friday night things have not been good. I saw the duty GP on Monday and he put me on the nebuliser for a while and that was really helpful. I've been taking the pred and the antibiotics, and my inhalers. But I'm still struggling with my breathing. I still need my Ventolin between 3

Chronic/Status Asthmaticus/Singulair
Hi Anyone got any advice....or experience of similar... Initially I had a few attacks that resulted in A&E, the usual, but nothing earth shattering in the autumn! This progresed to getting more and more out of control, yet the attacks once on nebuliser etc then calm down quite quickly after a few doses

Combivent
I have just been prescribed combivent in addition to other meds, but it feels as though it is burning on the way down and then my chest hurts for quite a while afterwards. It does improve my peak flow but I don't know if I should continue with it. With it being the weekend I cannot ring the nurse to

When is asthma under control?
Hi, I'm a few weeks away from my next consultant check up. Last time I saw him, he said that if the asthma wasn't ""under control"" the next time I saw him, he'd be thinking about injections. This isn't something I'm keen on! The asthma is certainly a lot better than it was. I'm hoping the improvement

Not sure what is could be
Hey all, I dont know if some of you remember but the start of this year i was off for 6 months with my asthma. I feel better however the doctors havent really got to the bottom of why i get chest pains and dizzy. Having done ecgs, diagonosed with acid reflux, my heart (according) to the ecgs was fine

Different Normal Peak Flow Value Scales?
Hello New to forum, but not to having child with asthma. Can I have thoughts, please. Our child uses the Mini Wright Low Range PF meter (EN Standard 13826). At almost 4ft 5 inches tall, the Clement Clarke Normal PFV scale would suggest a predicted PEFR of 233. Our GP practice use the EMIS computer

Handihaler and asthma
Hi folks, I'm feeling very depressed this evening. I've had a few chest infections over the last three winters, three in 2008, one last year and a mild one already this year. I spoke to the asthma UK nurse before Christmas and she recommended that I ask my doctor about trying a montelukas tablet in

Limited to 3 SABA inhalers per year.
I'm 47 have had asthma since I was a teen, for the last 25 years I've been on inhaled pulmicort and salbutamol. This has worked really well, I've never had a serious exacerbation requiring oral steroids or hospitalisation. I don't get any real side effects using ventolin but just a couple of puffs

Peak Flow Meters
Hello Everyone, I am new to these discussion boards, and I would like to know if you can order new peak flow meters on prescription from your G.P. I have heard that you can, but I am on Income Support due to ill-health and I also do not have to pay for my prescriptions as I have an exemption certificate
