Has anyone been given a reason why either they or their loved one was unlucky enough to have pancreatic cancer ?
Dear all, my 68 year old mum was given the devastating news on 12 September 2011 that she has the most common form of pancreatic cancer adenacarcinoma in the head of the pancreas . She has never been Ill in all her life , nothing more than a common cold took no medication and never drank or smoked in

Have you recently been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer?
We would like to hear from anyone who has recently been diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer and who would be happy to talk to the media. We need patient case studies for a TV documentary which will serve as a good way to increase awareness of pancreatic cancer. If you, or someone you know

Eastenders Feature Pancreatic Cancer
I was a little surprised, but pleased, to see that Eastenders are featuring pancreatic cancer in their storyline with Pat. I really hope that this will raise awareness of this dreadful cancer. I would have expected them to use say Breast cancer or some cancer which is more obvious but pleased that

2011 Where it all started......
Well, for me 2011 was a year that no matter what, I will never forget. It started out really bad with the diagnoses of pancreatic cancer but in the wake of this I have not only learned a lot but have come a long way. I have heard so many times in my life that “people take so much for granted” but I

After a whipples and 6 months of chemo, I have been told that my cancer has "diffused" into my stomach. What does that mean for me?
Is this termed secondary cancer, or is it the same one spread? I've to go for something called second line chemo shortly but just wondering if this is still termed pancreatic cancer or stomach cancer? What is the prognosis when the first regimen of chemo didn't work?

New tool could help GPs diagnose pancreatic cancer earlier
UK academics from the University of Nottingham along with ClinRisk Ltd have developed two new “QCancer” algorithms to help GPs detect both bowel and pancreatic cancers. The simple tool cross-references both symptoms and risk factors of patients to ‘red flag’ those most likely to have the disease.

Scared of procedure..
I have previously blogged about my husband and his gemzar treatments and now we are going to the doctor next tuesday (Dec 13) to see about getting the whipple procedure. The more I read about it the more scared I get about my husband having it done. It seems like such a radical procedure. Does anybody

For Judith & Graham and for earlier and better diagnosis, please sign this e-petition
It is a scandal that almost 97% of people diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer die within 5 years. 22 people a day die from Pancreatic cancer. Earlier, clearer diagnosis would reduce this. Two years ago, I hadn't even heard of Pancreatic cancer. Then a life-long friend lost his wife to the disease.

My Fight with Cancer Part 1
I have been recently asked to share my experiences during the past year in my fight with pancreatic cancer and I must say first off that although I have had experience as a care giver to my mother who died of lung cancer I had no idea at all how to deal with what would be my own battle for life. When

The caregivers...
I am taking care of my husband who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August (2011) They say no surgery yet because tumor is wrapped around an artery and touching a vein..do chemo and radiation first....couldnt do radiation because it is too large and would effect the surrounding organs too much
