Do I need steroids again?
I only starting suffering with my breathing in Feb 2020. I am 49 - never had asthma before. By the time it was bad enough to phone the GP everything was in lockdown, and I’ve not been to the asthma clinic or physically seen the GP. So, in August despite being put on inhalers and anti-histamines I was

Ran today with no inhaler 😁🎉🏃♀️
Well after 3 days of clearing the old floor, frequent trips to the dump, technical issues with the new floor... including 2 faulty pieces and unable to get a replacement box until mid December, then moving furniture back onto the half floor that was completed only to find that the feet had picked up

Allergic / nocturnal asthma
Hello, hope everyone is doing ok. I have a question to people who have difficulties sleeping and getting woken up at night. I've had fairly mild / standard asthma since a child. I'm quite healthy, fine with exercise and have a good peak flow, but over the last few years since reaching my 30s, I've started

Are hot flushes a sign/cause?
I'm trying to work out whether my symptoms could in fact be anxiety. Before I start to struggle, I almost always get really hot and sweaty, this continues until my breathing has calmed. It's like a little heat siren that I need to rest and take my inhaler. I am only 32 so it's very unlikely that it's

Lung function test and FeNo
Hi everyone, Had my first ever lunch function test done this evening. FeNo was fine at 13. Kind of frustrating as I was told to continue using my inhalers when I checked yet turns out I should have stopped them. she initially said lung function was good and then said it was on the low side. As I

Add on drugs that are usually prescribed by GP; montelukast, LABAs, combination inhalers and steroids!
Hi everyone As I think I’ve mentioned before this post is going to go into some of the add ons medications for asthma. As there are so many, I’ve decided to split it into 4 posts; those typically prescribed by GPs, those prescribed by secondary cons, those typically prescribed by tertiary cons and those

Steroids - Everything you need to know!
Hi guys A follow on from my ‘inhalers -what to take and when’ post ( https://healthunlocked.com/asthmauk/posts/144713745 ) I thought I’d do a post about steroids today (as I build up to doing the other asthma drugs 😅). Hopefully this will help to alleviate some fears, and give some people some guidance

Running in the cold
Hi all! I hope someone will be able to help me. I've been running for about 3-4 months now with only a bit of difficulty from my asthma but obviously as it's now getting a lot colder, I've noticed my lungs are struggling a lot more. So does anyone have any ideas on how to combat this - e.g. inhalers,

Here we go!
Just had a call from a locum doctor from our surgery as I'd asked for a replacement inhaler. She started by saying that I was overdue a medication review (basically surgery only offers telephone diagnosis) so we could do it over the 'phone. Did I have a blood pressure reader and a peak flow meter? If

Asthma nurse, long term medication
Hi all hope you’re doing well. Been for my first appointment with the asthma nurse to check inhaler technique etc, she was very nice. The way she way talking was that she classed me as having a diagnosis of asthma and asked about symptoms/triggers. She read that the gp had suspected it a few weeks ago

Further Update: Multiple Chest Infections
A few people have asked for an update when I get it. Last week I had several blood tests and a sputum sample. Yesterday, my GP asked me to come into the office because I was relapsing after going off of the prednisone for the third time in about 3 weeks and he listened to my chest. He stated I was still

Albuterol important question
Hi all, Ran out of my preventative inhaler because it's too expensive here in the USA and I haven't been able to get it. Anyway, I've been using my Albuterol nebulizer a couple times every day pretty much, as my asthma is obviously acting up since I don't have my medicine. Anyway, is it okay than I'm
