THIRD TIME LUCKY
He thinks I’m mad not to continue with Pramipexole and understandably he is not keen to give me
opioids
. But, he is starting to listen to me, so there is a chance. My question is this: what can I ask him for to guide me through the last weeks of tapering?

Feeling guilty and ashamed for using pain relief 😢
I work 50 hours plus a week and doing everything i can to keep afloat. After trying every pain medication under the sun, unfortunately the only kind that gives me relief are
opioids
. My GP has been fine with this over the years but now wants me to reduce.

Inflammation and RLS redux
It turns out that prednisone counteracts
opioids
, which explains why codeine stopped working. But the bigger issue is: prednisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory. If inflammation exacerbates RLS, prednisone should have made it better, not worse.

She reassurred me about the use of
opioids
citing several other patients she has using it with great success, BUT, if it did not suit me then there are alternatives.

Hi, Does anyone know a doctor in the UK South East who I can see privately who will prescribe low dose
opioids
? I'm on 1800mg gabapentin and still having very bad symptoms. Thank you!

Bilateral Neuropathy in my legs and arms. I have a Nevro implant that stopped functioning. Now I require opioids to managing my pain.
My only option today is
opioids
to control my pain. My pain is all-encompassing where I can only reduce the condition. The non-VA medical profession will chastise me at every opportunity. Clearly, they have never been in pain that is relentless.

Oxycodone - the way forward or a dead end?
I approached the subject of
opioids
. It was clear that as
opioids
are not on the formulary of the NHS hospital where she works, she could not prescribe them - nor would she want to - But she agreed to ask my GP to prescribe Oxycodone-naloxone ( Targinact).

Because I don't tolerate strong
opioids
l, I had declined the Oxycodone prescription that was offered me. Since I take Codeine-Tylenol for RLS, I naively thought that that would be sufficient for my post-op pain. Well, I was wrong.

More cold Turkey!
I don't feel like I can take much more.My doctor, who is keen to help but wary of
opioids
prescribed me an antidepressant called nortriptyline 25mg. I took one and it nearly killed me. I had the most terrible 24 hrs and I will not be taking that again. Is Nortriptyline any good? am I being a wuss?

Low platelets
Obviously I'm not thrilled to be now offered the opportunity to take Pramipexole however I am aware that the Mayo advice is, if there are problems with Gabapentin/Pregabalin, to try DAs as a second line ie before
opioids
.

Amitriptyline and cortisol
I have found many peer-reviewed articles claiming the same thing about
opioids
and benzodiazpines also, but it seems to be more pronounced for amitriptyline.

pregabalin vs buprenorphine
When I started, I assumed I would want to come off the buprenorphine and replace it with pregabalin, mainly because of my doctor’s unease with
opioids
. But now I’m wondering what choice other sufferers would make? The buprenorphine (Suboxone) seems to be working well (2mg/.5mg strips).

Does anyone have any direct experience of Targinact?
Does anyone have direct experience of taking Targinact or similar
opioids
, and can reassure me that it's ok - or as ok as it's possible to be given it's an addictive painkiller? Thank you all so much!

Reintroducing DA at a low dose?
Another option is codeine however as with other
opioids
i experience marked insomnia on it (even while taking 300mg pregabalin). Buprenorphine is a third option but i'm not sure i can deal with the accompanying nausea (that i experienced previously) right at this point in time.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)
Multiple medicines later and serious consequences from that I was told I was hyper-sensitive and stayed away from
opioids
. I take Co-codamol, Nortriptyline and Sertraline and some Tumeric. Over the weekend I had increasing abdominal pain and ended up in A&E for eight and a half hours alone.

Alternating cannabis and pramipexole
They're following the Mayo algorithm so I have to do this before they'll consider
opioids
. I've tried pregabalin, etc without success. Starting pramipexole on .125mg, up to max .75mg. I'm too scared to take them due to potential augmentation and the horror stories.

Pelvic floor therapy after menopause
I am taking another benzodiazepine for sleep/anxiety (clonazepam) and I'm not sure if the doctor prescribing that will want me to mix the two, especially since I am taking
opioids
and baclofen, which both tend to slow respiration.

I'm not sure what the alternives are for extra pain relief while on
opioids
, that don't cause more problems. Just passing on my personal experience.

Still Looking for Suggestions
I have something for nighttime but the US is so paranoid from the abuse of
opioids
that only a miracle would help me find and get an appointment in the next 6 months with a doctor that would prescribe them.
