Movicol

she's still pooing in her pants, should I reduce the movicol further?

They said at school he doesn't listen and won't sit on the carpet at carpet time ) half the time I think is it because he has a poo in his pants) should I give him movicol in morning to reduce risk of accident at school??

We've done disempaction with movicol a few times and cleared him out but it never seems to last. This latest time we got down to pure liquid poos and since then have been giving a maintenance dose of 2 sachets a day and he's been doing a nice soft poo most days.

Even one sachet of movicol causes looseness but if we stop or go to half she's backed up again! So at the moment we are just using senna and movicol every other day or so. But we can't establish any sort of pattern. She doesn't get watery overflow as described everywhere.

For anyone who remembers me crying 😭 with my children about my son’s painful situation (severe impaction and in severe gastric pain when trying to take movicol and failed disimpactions and enemas)...he’s been admitted to hospital for 5 days by his wonderful paediatrician.

We have finished a disimpaction regime and she is now on 1-2 sachets of Movicol a day and pooing normally. During disimpaction she became very distressed by the mess so we put her back in nappies. Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here regarding potty training?

In the past I have taken Movicol 4 sachets daily but this was great for a few days but couldn't leave the house. then they reduced the movicol to one sachet and even though I went to the toilet the pain was excruciating when going. I am now back to the start.

We brought her to paediatrician who prescribed movicol, we have been giving her 2 sachets a day and she is going well and making it to the toilet, but i am worried about long term use, she could be doing up to 6 poos a day and im not sure if this is normal or harmful, can anyone advise?

My lg is having Movicol for constipation. We are on a disimpaction regime as advised by ERIC. Dimpaction is taking a long time (still not at stage that ERIC advised us to get to before dropping to less than 8 sachets per day and we’re on day 14 with Senna added from day 10.

But I think he still has a tendency to ignore the urge, and movicol doesn't allow that! Having said that, a few months ago we were having soil free days so it must be possible!

I guess I’m just reaching out to the wonderful Eric family out there who can relate to the dreadful pain of constipation especially with the ones who don’t respond to the movicol. I don’t need advice.

Currently on 9 movicol a day, 10ml dulcolax and 10ml senna with sporadic disimpactions.

The doctor just says change the amount of movicol. My husband pooed himself as a kid until he was 7 . And he said he only stopped cos he realised it was easier to poo on the toilet rather than have schemes such as putting toilet paper in his pants etc.

We have then been prescribed Movicol one a day until poo is 'normal' again. It always ends up back where we started. He wont go at school as he is scared of being locked in the toilets. Tonight he has been crying with agony and he has been bent over double with pain (we've had this many times).

She gave me duphalac (think that’s how you spell), movicol, buscopan and colpermin. Buscopan was amazing and takes the pain away in literally 15 mins. Colpermin also works wonders for me and gives off a lovely peppermint smell and taste!

We got 'will probably grow out of it, step up the Tolterodine and take Movicol, come back in 6 months'. I held it together in the office, but when we got outside I got quite upset. Hadn't realised just how much hope I had pinned on this appointment. I know many of you will know how I feel.

On Movicol since diagnosis. Been in hospital more than a handful of times for featal impaction. Is normally put on IV fluids and anti sickness as she continually vomits for up to 5 days during a bout of constipation.
