How to treat lethargy on MTX?
Hi there folks, I've been diagnosed with RA about 9 months now, in that time I've gone from 20mg MTX tablets and 5mg folic acid ( which worked well for the condition but gave intermittent nausea ) to 20mg
Metoject
pen ( which has been reduced from 25mg due to toxicity but provides 85 -90% symptom relief

Update on chest pain (wow, sorry its so longwinded) 😅
I explained that the plan with the private consultant was to give it till December with the increase in lefluminode dose from 10 to 20mg but as I'd missed 2 doses of the
metoject
through being so ill & a dose failing I'm now in a flare but feel I need to give it another month or I'll have to try sulfazine

Pleurisy & covid jab
Gp rang & said I needed a f2f but not to have my
metoject
for 1 - 2 weeks as my immune system is obviously very low, I mentioned the covid jab & he said definitely not to have
metoject
to give the vaccine a better chance.

Visit to rheumatology today...I wasn't expecting change of meds!
Meanwhile, I continue with 22.5mg
Metoject
and Sulfasalazine 😖I don't understand why she didn't apply for it there and then, like normal? A bit miffed at the moment to be honest. Anyone on Tocilizumab? Apparently, it will be weekly injections.

First time using metoject tonight.
Anyway, back to the
metoject
, I asked the chemist about the sharps bin who said it should have been put on prescription but I could buy one, it was only £1.54 so no probs, I also asked if the
metoject
came with antiseptic wipes which it doesn't, they said it's fine to just inject without using one?

Flu jab should I go?
I've also got a slightly sore throat from coughing & trying to speak, I've also got lots of mouth ulcers which seems odd that I'm now having
metoject
(20mg) instead of oral MTX, I've still got a sore on the top of my foot that's been there since August aswell as a few other sores that aren't healing.

Is there an alternative equivalent to methotrexate?
Had my next dose of
metoject
on Monday & by last night & this morning my back is as bad as before, could both the pins & needles & the pain in my back / side / front be caused by
metoject
?

Face to face appointment with rheumatology nurse today....I stamped my painful feet (metaphorically speaking)
My
Metoject
has been increased from 20mg to 22.5mg weekly on my request. I was in there around 45 minutes! The rhemy clinical nurse told me that, on average, Rituximab (Rixathon in my case) takes 2 to 3 times to have an effect!!

Rheumatology in Norfolk UK
I'm pretty established with my GP and rheumatology team and have never been refused for funding for my meds (
Metoject
, biologics - currently Rituximab) and I'm worried whether I'll get worse service. Do any of you lovely people on here live in that county?

RF changed from positive to negative
Following his diagnosis in December, he had been injecting
Metoject
12.5mg, then 10mg for 5 months. His anti-CCP test was positive and quite high. Many thanks.

Rituximab and statins - a good combo?
I also have the
Metoject
(20mg) and take sulfasalazine. They're my main ones...along with a concoction of other meds: omeprazole, vitamin D3, folic acid, calceous, ferrous sulphate and etoricoxib. Oh, I'm seropositive RA and I'm flaring big time - high CRP & ESR.

Bruising at site of Metoject injection.
Last time I did my
Metoject
injection there was 9 days ago - I alternate legs so it was the right side this Monday. It is an area of about 6" x 10" and isn't painful to touch. Any ideas?

Different brands of Methotrexate
He prescribed for the first 3 months and I was given
metoject
and it worked marvellously with my inflammation levels going right down. After 3 months, my GP took over the prescription and he prescribed Nordimet.

Very high anti-CCP results
Does he need to increase his
Metoject
dose to make anti-CCP go down? Or should we ignore the elevated anti-CCP test as long as his ESR and rheumatoid factor are fine? Perhaps, anti-CCP is not a very informative test for tracking the progress in treatment?
