My father was diagnosed with RA in December 2020. At that time, his RF was positive and quite high. However, he had another RF test last month and it came back as negative and normal figure, not too high.
How is it possible for RF to turn from positive to negative after 5 months? Following his diagnosis in December, he had been injecting Metoject 12.5mg, then 10mg for 5 months.
His anti-CCP test was positive and quite high.
Many thanks.

It is an antibody so it is something that can change. Often it is only used as a diagnostic test, and never tested again, so not much written about it.
I have been suffering for about 10 years with RA, it as now reached the stage that regardless of what I take I'm in seveer pain most 24/7, just occcationally it calms down for a few hours. From the start my inflamation levels are negative and just a rare occation turn posative. I have read that this can happen with a rare group of people. But Doctors and Consultans don't seem to want to answer any questions about it. Shortly I entend to go to my original consultant who his now private only to get some answers. Also any injections I have no longer have any effect.
That sounds horrendous, it's so hard to demand help when you feel so bad, but constant pain is no way to live, sending you strength to fight for attention x
