RLS meds initiate RLS symtoms before suppressing them?

After several years of taking RLS medicines, most recently Rapinerole and now Sinemet (Carbidopa-Levo ER) both in combination with small dosage of Clonazepam. I often find about 20 minutes after taking the medicine the symptom of kicking occurs before the medicine then finally suppresses the kicking. Does anyone else have such effects from these medicines mentioned here?

I was prescribed Ropinirole beginning of November 2013 with a low dosage 25mg increasing every two weeks to 50mg in the morning and 50 mg in the evening?

At present my RLS has disappeared after years of experiencing RSL symptoms culminating in very severe symptoms September & October 2013 when I was continually awake from about 1am to 7am!! Played havoc with my daily life's routine!

The only side effects seems to be some itchy skin problems but easy to live with and not every day!!

So Ropinirole is the treatment I would recommend BUT not sure how long I should be taking this Dopamine Agonist - any experience out there?

Happy New Year to all and NO RESTLESS LEGS!!!!

Yes, I take Ropinerole about an hour before I go to bed and I have noticed that when my legs have been fairly settled through the evening, which is rare, the kicking starts within 20 minutes of taking them and continues for about 45mins.

Hi Walnut,

Yes, I am on 1.25 mg Ropinerole. I always get rls soon after taking it. It can be 1 1/2 hours before it subdues the rls.

Yes, had a similar experience, slightly different timing. Was on 0,75 mg. Stopped it because of augmentation. In hindsight, maybe this is one of the earliest signs of augmentation?

Yes ive found that taking the pills as prescribed (any ones) it initiates the rls. It’s tempting to postpone taking it hoping against hope it wont start but it always does in bed and worse.
