Interferon

A few weeks ago my consultant said its rare for my platelets to stay at this level with ET Interferon was stopped over a year because platelets went low.

My new blood form has requested: Endo 3, Endo 4 and TSH I keep explaining to my Endo team that my hyperthyroidism returned after starting interferon for my MPN issue, a well documented side effect. They are still keen for me to have my thyroid taken out or ablated with radioiodine.

Had Et for 12 years Interferon for 11 years Asprin. The last 12 months i have been off interferon for 1 year platlets normal range. Today consultant said he wanted to check jk2 again 12 years ago was positive ?

After having given Interferon for ET a good go, I haven’t been able to continue on it. Currently just on aspirin awaiting next blood results to see if I need medication again after a 10 month break.

After years of consideration my Dr ordered low dose Interferon today (hoping my insurance approves it). I’m only 38 and there seems to be less long term side effects. Anyone else taking this drug and approve? How did your body adjust the first two weeks?Wish me luck 🤞

I asked option of going onto interferon having read the posts here over the last few months but was advised by the consultant that there are more adverse side affects interferon? Is she correct?

My question is has anyone else gone through this and am I having adverse reactions to Interferon itself? Thank you kindly. Sam

I was on pegasys(max dose) for 3 years with hydrea and now on besremi since April with titration of hydrea. Since off hydrea my numbers have been creeping up. I think I'm one of those that are semi-resistant to interferons. Can you continue to use hydrea with besremi? Someone had posted the genetics

I am waiting to start Pegylated Interferon in October. For the last few weeks I have moved had tingling Toes nad and my 2 big toes are painful. Is this symptoms will it improve on its own. Some days it is really painful

Glad to be starting Pegasys and hoping to be able to stay on it, since I suffer from cutaneous sarcoidosis (an inflammatory condition) and alpha interferon may make it worse. Fingers crossed. If I can be on Pegasys, the plan is to test again for allele burden after at least six months.

Could anyone help me I had a BMB nad results say I have Pre Fibrotic myelofibrosis changes not sure what this means I have ET My Haemotoligist has suggested changing to Pegylated Interferon Has anyone had same diagnosis Is anyone on htis medication to and can tell me about it Thanks

My concern is that it’s the interferon as I know thyroiditis can be a side effect. Has anyone had this issue and what was your experience - symptoms, treatment etc.?

68 yo F, with ET , Jak2 mutation, on interferon 45ug every 10 days. I have only been this fatigued once before and I had pneumonia. It definitely started when I went on interferon. I am in hematological remission so don't want to stop.

"The PEG moiety lowers the clearance of interferon alpha, thereby extending the duration of its therapeutic effects" https://www.cancer.gov/publications/dictionaries/cancer-drug/def/pegylated-interferon-alfa I can't find a clear explanation how PEG does this, I think the experts have not fully figured
