Fed up
Interferon
not bringing platelets down, 135mcg, haemo does not believe that it will on its own. Adding 500mg of HU to see if that will help, urgh not happy but do have to admit after 11 months she has a point. Wasn't happy on that before.

Seems as I already have underactive thyroid it wouldn't get worse if I every decided on
Interferon
. Contrary to my last talk with NORFOLK hospital who wanted me to increase meds. she is happy with my platelets steadily going down so still taking hydroxicarbamide every other day.

Discovery of a signaling feedback circuit that defines interferon responses in MPN
« Interferons (IFNs) are key initiators and effectors of the immune response against malignant cells and also directly inhibit tumor growth. IFNα is highly effective in the treatment of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), but the mechanisms of action are unclear and it remains unknown why some patients

Lower dose versus lower frequency of Peg Interferon
On the Facebook MPN
Interferon
forum today, a member posted that he had been on Peg
Interferon
45 every two weeks for two years but was having some problems, so was considering taking a break from it.

Raising Awareness for Polycythemia Vera is Key in Increasing Overall Survival
At least in this study for patients on
interferon
long term, there was no excess mortality from polycythemia vera, whereas the other patients who did not receive
interferon
, although they did not have access early mortality, they did have access late mortality, suggesting that
interferon
can put patients

Hepatitis A Ab positive due to interferon? Should I concern it and how to treat it?
Taking
interferon
0.5ml/week since last mid August, I had blood test recently and found Hepatitis A Ab positive. other issues associated with taking
interferon
include low WBC(2.6 vs. 3.4), low Neutrophils (1.0 vs. 1.4) and high AST (45 vs. 40), ALT(58 vs. 44).

To antivirals or not to antivirals
Do we even know if they clash with the
interferon
or the blood thinners? It will be day 4 tomorrow, so I'll need to act quickly.

Platelets up to 1500 since starting PEG interferon
I started on PEG
interferon
after being on hydroxyurea for many years 4 weeks ago. Taking 95mcg every 2 weeks. Feeling pretty worn out, have had aches, pains, flu symptoms so was really expecting that it was working.

Interferon possible side effects
I am currently undergoing tests to rule out other causes but wondering if it may be the
interferon
causing this?

Persistent fatigue induced by interferon-alpha
I sort of randomly came across this one. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0306453018301963 <<Patients who develop persistent fatigue experience greater increases in IL-6 and 10 in response to IFN-α.>> Some of us do experience new fatigue on INF. IL-6 and 10 can be blood tested,

UA also led to an overall reduction of some pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as
interferon
gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) (Figure 3D). Average baseline levels of these pro-inflammatory cytokines were low in this population.

Suggestions to help manage fatigue
I'm now 31 and have been on pegasys
interferon
and warfarin for the last few years, with things generally ticking along OK. The last couple of months however I've been really struggling with fatigue, which has impacted work and meant I've had to take some time off and do reduced hours.

Novel COVID-19 Vaccine Shows Promise for People with Leukemia and Lymphoma
Tandler said that the induced CD4+ T cells “displayed a desired multifunctional phenotype” that was positive for cytokines such as interleukin 2, tumor necrosis factor, and
interferon
gamma. “This resembles the phenotype after natural infection,” she said.
