Hair loss
Hi, is hair loss related to
Hydroxyurea
? I saw today that I have a receding hair line. Is there anything we can do about that? Vitamins maybe as iron is not allowed? Is anyone experiencing the same?

Anti-inflammatory options
So, if one is not to take ibuprofen for anti-inflammation relief (sports injury), because of being on
hydroxyurea
for ET, any ideas what an alternative might be? Acetaminophen is fine as a pain reliever but it’s not an anti-inflam.

Is hair loss a given?
Hi all - I know that hair loss/thinning is listed as a possible side effect of taking
hydroxyurea
. I immediately latched on to the word “possible”, in the hope that it also means loads of us on the drug will not lose hair.

Does Interferon affect BMB results?
Was on
hydroxyurea
for 3 years, now on Roferon A (interferon) 3 x weekly for 10 months. I have just started noticing an improvement with symptoms but i would like to request a BMB and was wondering whether interferon can affect the results.

ET, dehydration & vagina
Started
hydroxyurea
1 month ago and I was told to drink plenty of water when taking hydroxy but should have been drinking massive amounts of water with just the ET. If you wait until you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Hope this helps someone.

Hydroxy and Basal Cell Carcinomas
So, I've been on
Hydroxyurea
now for 6 years and had "boring skin" until this year. Anybody over 60 whose been taking hydroxy for a few years have a few skin cancers popping up?

PV and/or ET - JAK2+ - currently asymptomatic
His current concern is the platelets which is now increasing and had actually recommended low dose
Hydroxyurea
which I had declined – as I would like a “wait and see approach”.

Slow healing from ET or Hydrea??
Am wondering if anyone knows if our bodies heal more slowly from injuries because
Hydroxyurea
or ET? I seem to be taking a long time to recover from tendon damage in my elbow & achilles. Thanks for any info you have. Katie

Hydroxyurea or anagrelide
The week before that she was on two
hydroxyurea
and two anagrelide, which brought platelets down from around 430 to 60. Now as a newby to all this she is thinking the
hydroxyurea
is not doing anything in bringing the platelets down while the anagrelide is working well and quickly.

ET struggle
I had some ups and downs since I was diagnosed but currently am on
hydroxyurea
and clopidogrel but my platletes count is 900 (even though in the past couple of months hydroxy urea was effective and lowered it to 200 so I don't know why the sudden change) My life is very difficult right now.

Progression question
So, if the
hydroxyurea
keeps platelets in check, and the clopidogrel (and oodles of water) reduce platelet “stickiness”, and since the vast majority of ET doesn’t become fibrosis or leukaemia, does most ET just stay as it is - hence the “normal life span” prognosis?

Immunizations galore
My haemo has me set up to get a shingles shot and two pneumonia shots, because of my immune system being potentially lower due to the
hydroxyurea
. Public health nurse says I should also get a meningitis vaccination and an updated tetanus shot.

Anyone with Post ET/MF & Budd Chiari?
I took
Hydroxyurea
and Agreline (sp?) early on but after several DVT's, embolism and PE's I was put on Warafin and Allopurinol and basically monitored until my MF symptoms got "bad enough to treat". About 15 years ago I had blood clots form in my liver and 7 years ago more formed as well.

Hair loss and hydroxy
I know this should be the least of my concerns about taking
hydroxyurea
, but .... What are others’ experiences with hair loss, taking 1 capsule per day? I’m crossing all fingers that that dosage doesn’t cause hair to fall out, but that may be just wishful thinking.

Just took first hydroxy
After spending most of yesterday worried and anxious, and going back and forth between “I’m not going to take it” and “I’m going to die” (okay, a bit extreme I grant you), I got up this morning, had a bunch of water, which I do anyway, and took the Clopidogrel — and then the

Hydroxyurea dose! About right or too much?
Since Wednesday she has been given
hydroxyurea
1000mg once a day, as she now weighs short of 50kg, can I ask if this is a correct dose? Her diagnosis is myelofibrosis JAK2 positive. Platelet count of around or above 1000.
