Patient of ESSENTIAL THROMBOCYTOSIS on medication of hydroxyurea , but gradually RBC ALSO DECREASING !

I am recently on hydroxy urea and hav an okay platlet level ie 5-5,50000 but my rbc count is decreasing gradually in every new test repot

Can someone please let me know why this is happening ?

Yes, a few mos. ago my platelets dropped so they took me off for a week(they shot up to 400) then resumed chemo at a lower dose..levelled off beautifully, and have stayed there.

I was had an oncologist who did not know how to treat ET and, consequently, kept increasing my hydroxyurea to the point that my rbc count down to 7 and began be so very tired and caught colds, had pneumonia, etc. From that experience I know how very important it is to find a hematologist/oncologist WHO KNOWS HOW TO TREAT THIS DISEASE. When I found one, he started out at a low dose and gradually increased until we got to a happy medium. As one expert at MD Anderson in Houston TX told me, you only need to be in the normal range not the low range for you platelet count and this should work out to keep you rbc at a good number.
