Hydroxyurea

Does CoQ10 or NAD+ interfere with Hydroxyurea and aspirin? Love this group.

I know Hydroxyurea is supposed to increase our risk of skin cancers. Does anyone know if having 2 in 6 months means I need to switch meds? I’ll ask my MPN doctor soon but just wanted to find out what you folks may have been told. Thanks. Katie

Hi I take 1000mg hydroxyurea and 1 clopidogrel daily for the last 20 years since I was 39. I feel I need a boost and wanted to take iron, b12, and vit d anybody know if there would be issues with this. struggling with headaches and fatigue at the moment

I have been on hydroxyurea for ET for over six years. My dose is low - 500 mgs three times a week. Up until now I have had zero side effects and my platelet count is in the normal range, so it is doing its job.

Met with hematologist today here in Houston and I am pleased to report that it was a fairly good one. 41 yo male CALR mutation - on Pegasys 135 mcg weekly and currently weening off of hydroxyurea @ 500 mg (1 pill) every other day.

Ever since I was switched from Hydroxyurea to Pegasys, my body has had an explosion of pain, ranging from headaches to GERD to sinus issues and beyond. Trying to figure out if it's the combination of the thyroid disorder and the interferon, or I'm just getting older and falling apart.

I am concerned about the medications that are offered and if they are ok to take having PV and being on Hydroxyurea. I appreciate hearing your experiences.

I am waiting for a call back to discuss this; I am assuming I will continue on the hydroxyurea initially and taper off as I increase the Besemri. Any advice is welcome. #Besemri #hydroxyurea

Is it the JAK2 mutation, the ET itself, or is it the hydroxyurea that I take that causes it? Thank you!

My doctor is recommending to cut down the Hydroxyurea to 500 mg on two of the days. I don't do well having phlebotomies, and really don't want to have to have one next month, so I only cut back the Hydroxyurea on one day. I am also concerned that my WBC is so low.

I’m on 500 mg hydroxyurea every second day. I’m wondering if anyone has had the fatigue pass, even if it’s temporary? I’m trying to figure out if this is the new normal for me.

In last two years I am additionally on Hydroxyurea (HU) . Otherwise I exercise frequently, have good BMI am fit and and feel very well.My blood counts go up and down but I watch this and manage it.

Currently taking Hydroxyurea and weekly venesections. Today 2 nurses tried 4 times to get the needle in a vein in both arms without success. This has happened 3 times over the last 7 weeks. The veins in the left arm and wrist collapsed. It was quite painful is there an alternative to venesections.

I have been on hydroxyurea for 3 months and was diagnosed with PV in March. My white blood count is almost 17 and my allele burden is 91.3%. My hematocrit is 46.

I will be transitioning from hydroxyurea, and wonder if others have experience with this. How long did it take after beginning Besremi for your blood counts to reach desired levels? How were the side-effects? Please let me know, and thanks for any replies.

Hydroxyurea stopped been effective 16 months ago.

He's taking 500 mg Hydroxyurea daily & after a few adjustments doing & feeling really well.

Hi Can you please tell me what time do you take Hydroxyurea? One haematologist yesterday told me I should take it in the morning empty stomach for it to work better!

I have too many blood platelets and take hydroxyurea for the side effect which keeps low. Low dose 2 x daily, but have been taking for 4 years and didn't have this happening. I would appreciate hearing any of your thoughts or information. Thanks very much. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Goid evening, I visited a local hematologist this week, not my MPN specialist, due to non coverage and he suggested trying combo of Hydroxyurea and Anagrelide. Has anyone used this combination for treatment of ET?
