Horizant

Does anyone take Horizant as opposed to regular Gabapentin? I've read that Horizant gives better relief.. I'm in the UK and have automatically been prescribed regular Gabapentin. Have to admit I haven't asked my GP about the alternative.

Was taking 600 mg at 5 pm for RLS. Doc doubled the dose. 600mg twice daily. my question is at what times. Can I continue the 5pm and then take the additional at 8pm?

Has anyone experienced vertigo or dizziness on Horizant? I take 600 mg (2 pills) and on day 9 I start getting dizzy. I stopped taking Horizant in January after 9 days when I started feeling dizzy and started taking it again this month. Again I got dizzy on day 9 of taking it.

The doctor wants me to try Horizant. I know it's just extended release Gabapentin. I want to get off the ropinirole but I have to do it on my own. The neurologist just wants to up the dose of ropinirole but has suggested Horizant in addition to the Gabapentin I already take.

So I did a trial of Horizant (which my insurance will help cover) but my dopamine receptors were still significantly damaged from augmentation on ropinerole. I believe now, 6 months post Ropinerole, that possibly another Horizant trial may be indicated.

Never thought this would happen but after three and half years on Horizant, has stopped working. Even taking twice dose didn’t do any good. I know I can’t take methadone, but I was wondering what people’s experience might be with the partial opiate called Buprenorphine.

so my hubby was taking methadone with 1200 Horizant. He stopped the meth because he was having panic attacks, insomnia etc. the doc now put him on suboxone. Are the two drugs together creating the mess. Maybe opioids aren’t for him. However the 1200 mg of Horizant was hit or miss also

He is also on 1200 mg Horizant Doc ordered .5 mg Xanax for him. It did help with sleep immensely. So my hubby decided to test something out. He take 5 mg meth around 2 pm, His Horizant at 6 pm and then the Xanax about an hour or so before bed.

The doc wants to add one pill at night time and I am already taking Horizant and Suboxone.

At this time I am taking Horizant 600 mg, pregabalin 150 mg and ropinirole 1 mg at 5 pm. Oxycodone 5mg at 2 am and 2 pm. Where will I go from here? My neurologist had tears in her eyes the last time I saw her. Scary!

The main side effect of Horizant is “drowsiness”. Now I’ve been taking 2.5 mg of methadone for the last four days and its major side effects are drowsiness and restlessness so now I pretty much feel like a zombie. Any idea how long it takes for the side effects to go away?

Am I correct in assuming that methadone will not only help me get off pramipexole but also treat the restless leg syndrome which I am now treating with Horizant? Will I therefore be able to get off both pramipexole and Horizant and stay on just methadone for the rest of my life?

He does have chronic pain from failed back surgeries, cycling off of Horizant as it seems to have more side effects than gabapentin. I double checked all his supplements to make sure this was not a side effect of any of them. Has anyone else had this sudden drop in body temperature?

He started taking methadone and it seems the combination of that and the horizant is causing side effects such as panic attacks, feels like he can’t breathe when he lays down and can’t sleep. Sue - please advise. 🙏

Hi All I was wondering if anyone has heard of a drug called horizant, gabapentin enacarbil. The fda approved it in the states specifically for rls pts. It is supposed to be longer acting and less side effects. My husbands neurologist had no knowledge of it.

has anyone been on this for RLS and what has been your experience?

He was on 2 Horizant pills when we first saw him and he has changed his meds a few times since then. We just went back and he wants him to continue the two Horizant pills and is slowly adding methadone. Right now we have just started a 2.5 mg. pill along with the two horizants.

I take my Horizant at 5 PM with a meal (preferably with some fat to expedite release). Here's my question, I also have gastroparesis (slowing the emptying of the stomach after eating). Has anyone tried taking their Horizant earlier in the day to avoid the late evening breakthroughs?

Is anyone taking more than 600 mg of Horizant? I’ve been on it for around three years but now it’s starting to wear off after 12 hours while it is supposed to last 24 hours.
