For several years (3) I have been micro tapering from pramipexole. And as long as you don’t make any mistakes, it works well. I have tapered down from 0.875 mg around three years ago down to 0.5125 mg. Unfortunately, I’ve made two mistakes over the past three years and each time, of course, I go into immediate withdrawal and have to increase the dose again. By a “mistake” I mean that I had forgotten to take part of the dose. Each night you must take part of the dose as a liquid and part of the dose as a solid.
After the last mistake followed by another increase in the drug, I found that the micro taper is no longer working. I am about to call my neurologist/sleep doctor and ask him about methadone.
Am I correct in assuming that methadone will not only help me get off pramipexole but also treat the restless leg syndrome which I am now treating with Horizant? Will I therefore be able to get off both pramipexole and Horizant and stay on just methadone for the rest of my life?
