Paravalvular leak
I have a prosthetic aortic valve and have just been diagnosed a paravalvular leak. There is contradictory information on the internet: don't do anything until symptoms or treat with keyhole repair or treat with another open heart surgery replacement. I dread to think of a 2nd surgery, I also don't

where I’m at and what docs suggest
hello all I have occasional episodes of AFib up to 5 days a couple of times a year but have been having more shorter episodes for a few seconds or minutes at times, very occasionally at night when sleeping on my stomach. So a change. I take apixaban. My life is normal other than tiredness probably

Heart Medication
Hi I’m waiting for a heart bypass I’ve got pre op in April I’m wondering if after surgery do you need to stay on Angina tablets for life or do they stop after surgery. Thank you hope you are as well as can be Sharon.

The old vegan vs other nutritional diet comparison persists
I have been following a strict vegan diet program since 2015. I began to hopefully slow or reverse my diagnosed heart disease. Did the conversion help with either? Who knows? It is, I believe, not something that can be definitely proven. But, I believe it has helped, so I’m content with the change. But

24 Hour ECG Monitor Results - Advice Please
Good afternoon fellow afibers, I've just gained online access to my medical records and finally got to see the results of a 24 hour ECG monitor done in July 2022 (shown below). I haven't had a NHS cardiologist or electrophysiologist put this into laymans terms for me so was wondering if you good folks

symptoms after open heart surgery
hello if you were symptomatic before having open heart surgery how long was it by the time you felt that you were no longer symptomatic? Can it be immediate? appreciate everyone is different and no two ohs outcomes will be the same even if the surgery was for the same condition. But I’m curious

Digoxin vs Pace & Ablate?
As some already know I’ve had a hard recovery since ablation on 23/11/22. HR was on the rise again slowly from then and the severe respiratory episode went on & on. Just coming to the end of what I think is maybe the 5th antibiotic course! I’ve now been on digoxin 125mcg since 28/2/22 and following

Dad has hypoxic brain injury after cardiac arrest
My dad had heart surgery came out and then had a CA for 20mins. He has had a scan which is saying hypoxic brain damage. We are on day 3 and he is moving legs, responding to pain opening eyes but he is unconscious. He is not responding to pain. I am writing for positive stories as it all seems very bleak

Heart Bypass
Hi all I’m knew here I’m waiting for a heart bypass and a valve replacement. I’m very overweight and trying to lose weight before op. I’ve had my anaesthetic pre op and he said that due to my size my recovery will be harder and I need to get my lungs as healthy as possible and I will probably be in Intensive

Valve knocking?
Hi All, hope everyone is doing OK. I had an aortic valve replacement 15 years ago and have been on warfarin ever since. Ive not had any real issues since however in 2020 I suffered a head injury (which I've posted about on headway forum). Since then I've been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome,

Heart Attack and Insurance
Usually I have PAF which when I have an episode doesn't last for not longer than 4 hours max. Two weeks ago I had an AF and Tachycardic episode lasting from Sunday morning through to Wednesday, I carried on throughout, which in hind sight I should not have done. On Wednesday morning I had a Type 2 Heat

Cat and anxiety
Hello everyone, Approximately 2 weeks ago my eldest cat has been diagnosed with heart failure and risked to die. Fortunately, the vets managed to stabilise him and now he is back home with us. We have to medicate him twice a day and we are aware he is at high risk and the vets informed us that that

Onto apixaban!
I'm awaiting ablation for PAF. Cardiologist has recommended that I should start on a low dose of an ACE inhibitor for raised blood pressure, so that has added a point onto my CHA2DS2-VASc score! Due to strong family history of heart disease, he thinks that my actual risk is more like a CHA2DS2-VASc
