What is a realistic fitness goal?
Hello all, this is my first post. I have had 3 previous heart operations for a repair of truncus arteriosus when I was 13 days old, 8 years old and 27 years old. What is a reasonable, sustainable long-term fitness goal given this background? I can share more details about where I am now if asked. Thank

Advice re recovery - please!
My next door neighbour recently had triple
heart
bypass
surgery + a replacement aortic valve & he has AF. He is very breathless still but had a blood & short iron transfusion a few days ago because his blood count was very low (he looked terribly pale). He isn't sleeping & keeps having bad dreams.

Oh no, I don't want this ðŸ˜
Hi, I've had a heart monitor fitted since beginning of June this year. The specialist says I've had a couple of 150+ HR events, and one event of no heartbeat for 3 seconds. My resting HR is often 37bpm, blood pressure is just about perfect 120/80. I don't get out of breath, though can get low blood sugar

Afib Stroke Risk Lower in those that take Statins
Statin use is usually associated with a reduction of cholesterol and heart attacks, but a new study also shows an important additional benefit -- a significant reduction in strokes and TIA's in the Afib population. Something to discuss with your doctor if you're not already on statins, especially

Non alcoholic fatty liver
Hi, im diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis and I take 125mcg of levothyroxine. A few years ago I had my gallbladder removed due to it being full of stones and a large polyp and they found that I have fatty liver disease. The only advise I was given was to drop my calories to 200 a day for a few weeks

Hello . I was diagnosed with mild to moderate MVR last November . No symptoms other than slight breathlessness . Yesterday on another echocardiogram I was informed I have AF - no symptoms at all . It has made me very anxious . Has anyone else experience of both ? I am 57 , very very fit , not overweight

Open heart surgery
After my cardiology review midweek I’m being booked in for an angiogram and it’s been suggested I will be considered for an aortic valve replacement in the next couple of months. It seems the fact I get breathless on exertion and my valve is only 25% of the diameter it should be puts me close to the

Overdosing bisoprolol- can anyone offer advice?
I don’t know whether it is where I live ( the NW) but I really struggle to get appropriate treatment. Anyway I picked up my meds on Saturday. Opened them in the car and noticed my bisoprolol was suddenly in 5 mg tablets not 2.5 mg. I went back into the pharmacy to be told that I have been on 5 mg tablets

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Well yesterday i found out what was wrong with me and it didn't sound good. I have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy what a mouthful that was and i have a job remembering how to pronounce it. Well the consultant was lovely and he was cross that it hadn't been picked up when i had sepsis as it was there

Sinus Rhythm with Various other Arrhythmias
Since having my first Afib episode in over a year after an ablation in March, 2022, I've had a very few additional Afib episodes. What's new is an almost daily spate of readings from my Kardia of: 'Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopics", "Sinus Rhythm with Wide QRS", "Sinus Rhythm with Premature

Petrified of supposedly "benign" skipped heart beats.
I am obsessed with my skipped heart beats even though the 7 day event patch didn't show anything wrong. I want an echocardiogram, but I have to pay as the cardiologist and government don't think I need one. I live in New Zealand, and if the issue is serious or the doctor thinks it is warranted, then

Can azathioprine cause chest pains?
Hi, I have been on azathioprine tablets mostly 75mg to 100mg for my Lupus for approximately 20 years. Have been experiencing chest pains on my left side especially after excretion. I had various tests and scans but they are all negative. I had Covid last September and had to stop taking the azathioprine

update
not sure if you remember I was in and out of hospital a few times with undiagnosed bilateral pleural effusions. Well the next stage was to get some biopsy’s done to see if they can find out the cause but in clinic on Thursday I was told a meeting will be held on Tuesday to see if I now qualify for that
