Hello . I was diagnosed with mild to moderate MVR last November . No symptoms other than slight breathlessness . Yesterday on another echocardiogram I was informed I have AF - no symptoms at all . It has made me very anxious . Has anyone else experience of both ? I am 57 , very very fit , not overweight

Acupuncture and AF Post Heart Surgery
Good morning I came across this study in one of my newsfeeds this morning. I recall someone had recently asked about acupuncture for treating AF, so thought it worth posting here. Whilst this was only a small study specifically aimed at patients recovering from open heart surgery, I thought it interesting

Lp(a) results are in ….
I’ve recently had bloods taken to test for FH and Lp(a) levels. I had a heart attack in 2022 at aged 51 and was started on a whole ton of medications afterwards including Atorvastatin 80mg and then a bit later adding in 10mg Ezetimibe. My LDL cholesterol has not been able to reach the target of 1.4

Living alone after open heart surgery
When discharged from hospital after open heart surgery are you able to look after yourself such as reaching up and down, carrying out laundry basket, lifting pots and pans, cooking, getting in and out of bath. Or is it expected you will have someone who can assist you. If you didn't have anyone what

Technology question
We went away for the weekend . I was aware of tachycardia in the night ( only lasted few minutes) I always try to capture any palpitations if I can. This was the wee small hours so all electrical equipment was switched off . A tv , two phones and chargers, several lamps. I was about 22 feet away from

Hi guys....a recent CT scan showed some pleural effusion but nothing else...no nodes, growths or nodules, and a blood test showed no heart failure.I have to have the fluid removed on Monday and I'm bricking it already. I don't make a very good patient; former nurse; and I'm a wuss when it comes to pain

Resting HR on Bisoprolol
Hi everyone, I was put on 1.25 Bisoprolol in March when I had a heart attack and then told to take it twice a day in July when I went into Atrial Flutter after open heart surgery, meaning I'm now on 2.5mg. My resting heart rate was mostly in the low 60s these last 6 months which I assumed was good. The

Heart rate tracker anomalies
Hi everyone, I'm getting quite anxious due to my Fitbit reporting strange peaks in my heart rate. This was 4:37 this morning, and back to 70bpm 3 mins later. I slept through this so have no idea if it's accurate. Yesterday it said my heart was 187bpm while I was walking briskly to meet someone for lunch

Mandatory 4 days in office and heart condition
Hi All, I had a triple
heart
bypass
5 years ago (aged 45). Aside from fatigue from taking the various heart meds I'm doing ok (touch wood). Our company has just sent out an email informing everyone has to come into the office 4 days a week and its a mandatory requirement.

Dilated Cardiomyopathy/ Heart Transplant
I was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy in November 2022 after suffering shortness of breath and always being tired and breathless. I quickly deteriorated and when I went back to see my Cardiologist in January I was told I was now critical and needed to be admitted and put on the urgent transplant

Can azathioprine cause chest pains?
Hi, I have been on azathioprine tablets mostly 75mg to 100mg for my Lupus for approximately 20 years. Have been experiencing chest pains on my left side especially after excretion. I had various tests and scans but they are all negative. I had Covid last September and had to stop taking the azathioprine

What is a realistic fitness goal?
Hello all, this is my first post. I have had 3 previous heart operations for a repair of truncus arteriosus when I was 13 days old, 8 years old and 27 years old. What is a reasonable, sustainable long-term fitness goal given this background? I can share more details about where I am now if asked. Thank
